2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Thirty-Four Texas

Blue skies in Texas at race time.

Boring race overall. NASCAR’s pick for the championship, Joey Logano, had tire troubles and finished the race more than sixty laps down. I’m sure they can do something to help him out going forward.

Jimmie Johnson wins!!! Congrats to Jimmie and the 48 team on their sixth win at Texas Motor Speedway.

It was interesting that Keselowski blocked repeatedly, just like Matt Kenseth a couple weeks ago, yet Jimmie Johnson didn’t need to wreck Keselowski (“It”) to do it. Logano should take a lesson.

Congrats to Kevin Harvick on overcoming his various issues and coming home third, to Dale Earnhardt Jr on his sixth place finish after tire issues, and to Martin Truex Jr who managed to hang in there for eighth place.

Matt Kenseth’s appeal was appallingly denied. NASCAR spent a lot of time justifying the injustice of his two race suspension for taking care of an out-of-hand situation that NASCAR was ignoring. NASCAR comes off looking really bad in this deal. I’ve consistently believed NASCAR made a mistake when they changed the way they did things citing transparency as the motivating factor. They may have made similar choices, but they were so blatantly biased and improper. When they used secret probation and fines they seemed to keep things in line without seeming to be working the system to the advantage of a particular driver. Now there’s transparency we can all see the inconsistencies and bias in each and every decision.
