2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Eighteen Kentucky

Cup qualifying, and the test, was rained out in Kentucky so they will line up according to practice speeds. There was a spectacular race the other night in the truck race. Ben Kennedy ended up on the wall and damaged the catch-fence. He was shaken up, but okay after the race. It was an ugly wreck. The Xfinity race last night was mostly boring. I’m not expecting much from tonight, but maybe I’ll be surprised. We’ll see.

Just read that Buddy Baker has inoperable lung cancer. I love Buddy Baker. He’s leaving his position on Sirius. I will miss Buddy. I looked forward to hearing him. He’s my favorite on NASCAR radio. I love you Buddy!

The big wreck at the end of last week’s race was the talk of the week. Frankenstein flew. He hit the fence, knocked down part of it and then was hit by Keselowski after landing. Jr’s 88 team and Kasey Kahne’s 5 team ran out to the car to check on him immediately and gave thumbs up when they knew he was okay which brought cheers from the crowd.

It’s wonderful seeing Ray Evernham again. I like Ray. The unfortunate part is that he’s only with stammering Petty Kyle and whiny Krista Voda. Sigh. A pre-race show best left on mute. In this case the torture will linger for 90 minutes.

Competition caution initially schedule for lap 25 has been moved to lap 30 after a quick caution for a Josh Wise incident on lap 20.

Boring race overall. We watched it with the volume off. Bunny wan in control of the remote-control and usually she’s much more tolerant of on-air chatter and bad broadcasting, but this got her to the point she muted it and only turned it on for very specific things – but very few things. That’s not a good sign.

The race itself didn’t do anything for her and she’s the easier fan to please.

Kyle Busch wins.

Jimmie finishes 9th.
