Glory Hallelujah, the Xfinity Race is on FOX so we can actually watch it – instead of Championship Darts! Starting with a wreck on lap two the race at Talladega has been a bit of a mess. After a couple of early cautions, the field settled into single file racing for a while, then the chaos revved up again.
Later in the race on lap 73 of 113 a big wreck resulted from people slowing up to go to the pits and getting run over by people behind them. During the melee Brendan Gaughan hit the pit wall and injured two pit crew members of Aric Almirola’s 98 team. One was taken to the infield care center, the other has been transported to a local hospital.
The field is constantly shuffled by the wrecks. NASCAR has told Joey Logano’s team that he’s playing with fire with the push. Joey said 10-4 and continued to do what he’s doing.
Bringing out the sixth caution with 15 to go when Chad Boat lost his momentum, Ty Dillon got into the back of him and turned him around and the wreck was on. Darrell Wallace Jr, Ty Dillon, Kasey Kahne, Chad Boat, Blake Koch and Dakoda Armstrong were collected in this incident.
There are 25 cars on the lead lap with 14 to go and still under caution.
According to Aric Almirola Elliott Sadler is dragging his brakes to connect with Aric which is causing Aric to drag his brakes, but NASCAR is warning teams about the pushing, so Aric wants to know what he’s supposed to do? What a whiner!
We’re restarting with 8 to go.
Logano wins.
JJ Yeley finishes 4th! Joey Gase finishes fifth, just ahead of Chris Buescher.
Jeff Gordon was in the booth. It would’ve been lovely if Andy Petree would’ve been in there also. Unfortunately we were plagued with Mikey Waltrip.
