Atlanta Fall Race 2009

So, it’s Labor Day weekend – it’s Race Weekend – The Decatur Book Festival is going on – I’ve not managed to make that yet – The Black Gay Pride Festival is going on – I have not interest in that – DragonCon is going on – I had enough of that yesterday at work – but I’m watching the action from the track while relaxing on my sofa with my feet up and a nap in my future.
I have tickets for the race tomorrow night and I’m really looking forward to it. I’d planned to go to the Book Festival today, but decided instead of accept that I’m really tired and need a little more rest than I’ve had.
Martin Truex Jr Wins the Pole!Jimmie had the pole early on during qualifying, then Kasey Kahne beat his time by .02 of a second. My husband Kasey was then knocked off the pole by the oh-so-hot Woof, Martin Truex Jr. My guys were having a great day and i’m thrilled with Woof getting the pole. Jr got the pole for the Nationwide race.
A lot has happened in racing since I last posted. I think I’m going to put together a document that has all the news since then and then just paste it in. I also think I may have lost a category, so I’ll check that out.
Work has sucked in seven different ways since I last posted, but right now I’m just trying to make the best of things. The good news at this point is that there’s going to be a Perl class and I’ve asked (virtually begged) to take it, so I may get the skills I want to get the kind of job I want. Eli got another job and is gone. The guy hired before he left quit after two weeks. So they’re looking again. Carl limping in AtlantaSupposedly Daniel Bright from CMO is going to be elevated, though there’s been an uproar since he’s been getting programming training from Enda in order to help him. That info was sent to HR and now everybody is offered the opportunity. I’ve not been doing enough fun things so work is too much on my mind, but I’m working on doing better. Going to the race is part of my effort to do better – as was going to the Book Festival – but I also find that I’m frequently feeling a bit puny so I have to work with what I have and work on getting more to work with.
Carl Edwards broke his foot during the week so he’s on crutches, but will be racing tonight. He was playing frisbee with friends – he went for the frisbee, trapped it with his foot and his friend did the same, but got Carl’s foot instead.

More later…
