Its cloudy in Ricmond tonight, looks like rain. I’m hoping to be able to stay awake through tonight’s race to see the 2014 Chase field. For the past few weeks I’ve slept through most of the races. It was kinda tough not going to the Atlanta race. I miss track time. I love being at the track, but it feels as though they’re going cheap and I couldn’t justify spending my hard-earned money on an event that feels like someone shortchanging me. I’m looking forward to giving Darlington a try next year and maybe Daytona and Charlotte. The Atlanta race has been moved to March which takes it out of the running for me until almost race weekend. Typically it is entirely too cold in Atlanta in March to consider sitting in grandstands. Sigh. Maybe things will turn around at AMS in the near future. It feels as though either Bruton has too many tracks to take care of, or Ed Clark has stayed at the dance too long. Something is missing (other than three races per race weekend).
Jeff Gordon and It (Brad Keselowski) lead the field to the green. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a guy his age as happy to finally have a girlfriend as It seems to be. It’s creepy.
I fell asleep during the Nationwide race last night. Kyle Busch led from the pole and led all the laps. It was more of a parade than a race.
There was rain earlier so there will be a competition caution at lap 50.
Smoke returned to the track at Atlanta. He ended up wrecking out. I watched his media appearance at work. He does not seem like he’s ready to be back in a car. He’s an emotional wreck. I hope driving helps him. He needs it. I just fear something will go wrong and he will be in worst shape than he is now.
So far, so boring as we near the halfway point of the race.
The picture is really pixelling out as the race comes to an end – according to the lap counter on nascar.com. I don’t like Richmond typically, but this is ridiculously bad.
That was a horrible … well I can’t really call it a race, since the only racing seemed to take place on pit road.
I guess the chase field is set. I feel like I wasted my evening. What a disappointing end to the regular season. There have been a couple of good races, though none come to mind at the moment. I’m thrilled for Junior’s good season. Also it was good to see Jeff Gordon have good runs and wins.
Jimmie has been taken to the Care Center. He collapsed by the car after getting out, initially sitting down, standing up, then laying down. At that point his crew helped him stand and held him up, then walked him back to the wall and called for medical services.
