2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Eleven Darlington

Matt KensethIn this week’s penalty news, Penske’s penalties were basically upheld, though the suspensions were reduced. JGR’s penalties were basically overturned by the NASCAR Appeals Board dropping the points hit from 50 to 23, returning the race win, lowering the suspensions from 6 races to 1. The monetary penalty remained, but everything else was turned to a slap on the wrist.

Darlington. Night race. Mostly boring. Some action off and on, but a whole lot of riding around and logging laps too. KyBu and Kasey Kahne got together again and Kasey ended up wrecked – again. Kasey was less than pleased during a post-race interview.

After leading the most laps, KyBu got a right front tire issue late in the race and fell back through the field to finish sixth. He refused interviews walking stoically to his motorcoach. Jimmie finished fifth after a strong run, but the Gibbs cars were strong at the end and a late restart and a slow pit stop kinda shuffled the field.
