Boring race, good finish. I figured, as did KyBu, that the third place guy was in a good position to win because Logano and Hamlin were going to wreck before the finish. They did. KyBu was in third. Congratulations Kyle Busch on your Fontana win!
Regarding the Tony Stewart/Joey Logano incident, Smoke was tired and crabby. It was nap time. He sounded insane for saying ANYTHING negative about someone blocking. Really??? Mr. Kettle, please, please, please meet Mr. Pot! Dude! You wrecked 22 cars at Talladega blocking after spending the whole season kvetching about people blocking! That was insane. If I had the resources I think I would play that clip every time he blocks for the rest of the season, whether or not wrecks occur in the aftermath. That was completely insane and he sounded like a girl with all of that. Joey threw a water bottle at him? Really. How old are you? Had Smoke noticed that Joey had been having a rough afternoon prior to his tirade? Nap time. The thing that amazed me though was that Smoke seemed to finally understand that he is a singular entity! He actually used the word I when referring to himself. That was a miraculous change – quite welcome. I typically spend a bit of time during Smoke’s interviews trying to determine if ‘we’ refers to Tony, or to his team, or to SHR. For a change he actually acted like American was his first language.
Regarding the Denny Hamlin/Joey Logano wreck. Karma, baby, karma. Oprah used to say something like when God was trying to get your attention first he whispers, then he shouts, then he sends a brick wall. Are you listening Denny Hamlin??? Like just about everyone else I hope he did not sustain a serious injury, but I also hope he learned a few things from the incident.
Congrats to KyBu on his NNS win at Fontana. Good weekend for Kyle. I wonder what he promised to buy Samantha if he won both races? That’s the only explanation I could come up with for her interruption of his professional obligation (tv interview) with a big, long smooch.
