Caution on lap 15 of 94 for a multi-vehicle crash. The television broadcast is in split-screen so it is virtually impossible to determine which cars are involved, or what happened.
Brandon Jones (20) spins in front of the field after a contact by Jeb Burton (27) who was trying to collect his car after a spin got him squirrelly, and collects Sheldon Creed (00), Sam Mayer (41), Jordan Anderson (32), Ryan Sieg (39), Harrison Burton (25), Jeremy Clements (51), Brenden Queen (11), Anthony Alfredo (42), Kyle Sieg (28) and Ryan Ellis (71).
Red flag is out.
You can see through the body of Sheldon Creed’s car as he drives it toward the garage area. The left fender is the only one on the car, all of the others are gone along with the hood and most of the right side, and the left door and rear panels.
MRN’s Steve ‘Postman/Postie’ Post says the hit was so hard on Creed’s (00) car it knocked the radio out of the car.
The safety crews are working on SAFER barrier repairs.
Caution flag is out after about fifteen minutes.
Restarting on lap 20 of 94.
Austin Hill (21) wins stage one.
Dean Thompson (26) and Kyle Sieg (28) choose not to pit and will start at the front of the field, leading the restart on lap 31 of 94.
On lap 42 of 94 Taylor Gray (54) is slowly heading to pit road.
Caution on lap 44 of 94 for a crash involving William Sawalich (18), Dean Thompson (26), Connor Zilisch (88) and Leland Honeyman Jr (70). Honeyman got loose, chased the car, but turned into a car, possibly Harrison Burton (25) on the inside lane setting off the crash that also collected Connor Mosack (99).
Red flag is out.
Caution flag is out after ten minutes.
Restarting on lap 48 of 94 with Justin Allgaier (7) and Sammy Smith (8) on the front row.
Austin Hill (21) wins stage two.
Restarting on lap 54 of 94 with Daniel Dye (10) and Christian Eckes (16) up front.
Alex Hayden of MRN says the field is single file on lap 67 of 94.
Connor Zilisch (88) pits under green with a right front tire issue on lap 71 of 94.
MRN reports on lap 76 of 94 they are beginning to shuffle out of line.
On lap 83 of 94 MRN reports the field has gone back to single-file.
MRN is virtually begging for something to happen other than cars riding around single file.
Caution on lap 92 of 94 for Aric Almirola (19) getting turned and pounding the outside wall. Daniel Dye, and Jeb Burton (27) involved. Sammy Smith (8) made a move too late and made contact with Almirola who made hit Jeb Burton (27). Daniel Dye (10) spun out and crashed hard into the inside wall. MRN says the rear tires came off the ground with the hit.
Sammy Smith (8) is stopped on pit lane out of fuel, waiting for a push truck to get him to his pitbox. Carson Kvapil (1) was out of fuel and made a stop. Justin Allgaier (7) and Jesse Love (2) pit for fuel.
Restarting in overtime on lap 98 of 99 with Austin Hill (21) Leland Honeyman Jr (70) Josh Williams (45) Christian Eckes (16) Blaine Perkins (31) Nicholas Sanchez (48) Harrison Burton (25) Kyle Sieg (28) Garrett Smithley (14) and David Starr (35) up front.
A car turns into the outside wall after the white flag is displayed and it appears additional cars were collected, but the cameras followed the front of the field to the finish. I don’t know who was involved in that crash.
Austin Hill (21) edges out Justin Allgaier (7) and Carson Kvapil (1) for the win
Justin Allgaier (7) has clinched a position in the championship four.
Connor Zilisch (88) has advanced into the championship four.
I Listened to the race, MRN did a good job calling it. I switched from college football to see the final stage lap for stages one and two. I watched the incidents that caused the cautions. I turned to the race with two laps to go, just in time to see the Almirola’s crash. I then watched the race to the finish. I believe I saw everything that was visually stimulating, plus the stage ends. I considered going to the race – I guessed it wasn’t sold out. I decided against going because there have been too many super-speedway Xfinity series races recently where they ride around single file until they come out of the tri-oval on the last lap which is quite boring. I also have been extremely frustrated with the drivers’ lack of ability to organize at the end of super-speedway races in order to mount a valid attack. Therefore Austin Hill continues to win the events with a fast car and confidence that the rest of the field won’t get it together enough to give him legitimate competition. It wasn’t the worst Talladega Xfinity Series race I have seen. I believe it was better than the Spring race. Few drivers learn how to race at a super speedway during their time in the series. Since they just try to get through it, I believe the points awarded for the super speedway races ought to somehow provide an incentive to race the race, and to learn how to excel at it. Learning the necessary strategies and teamwork should be rewarded. The young drivers generally act like they’re doing time in the series, rather than learning skills necessary for advancement to the Cup series. As a result they enter the Cup series without the necessary basic skills to avoid being the source of trouble and chaos in the Cup series. They need to spend more time in the series and actually learn how to drive before they are eligible for a Cup series ride. They need to learn teamwork, fan building, and NASCAR series building.
