Weather: Mostly sunny, 68°F, Feels like 73°, Feels like (shade) 66°, Wind SSE 3 mph, Wind Gusts 6 mph

Ryan Blaney (12) wins stage one.

Caution on lap 82 of 301 for an incident involving Josh Berry (21) and Shane ‘SVG’ Van Gisbergen (88). SVG got into the rear of Berry sending him around.

The AI seems to have frozen after lap 39. We’re currently on lap 109 of 301. MRN apparently uses the nascar.com info for laps led. They just mentioned the laps led seems to have frozen so they wouldn’t say how many laps Logano has led currently. So far this season the Timeline feature has been consistently inconsistent. You never know when it will start. You never know when it will update. You never know when it will stop. You never know when it will work.

Caution on lap 110 of 301 for ‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin (11) dumping his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Ty Gibbs (54) sending him spinning into the outside wall.

Caution on lap 118 of 301 for an incident involving, Shane ‘SVG’ Van Gisbergen (88), Brad Keselowski (6), Daniel Suarez (99), Kyle ‘KyBu’ Busch (8), Christopher ‘CBell’ Bell (20), and Justin Haley (7). As usual you can’t see the car numbers involved to determine who was involved in the incident. Since the television broadcast missed the incident live they are spending an inordinate amount of time showing replays over and over from every angle they can find. The large number of replays do not actually offer any insight, or improve visibility into the incident. They’re just different bad angles and goofy camera shots that leave the viewer just as uninformed as they were before the repetition of in-car camera shots while crashing.

Looks like the AI is updating finally on lap 138.

Caution on lap 146 of 301 for a spin by John Hunter ‘JHN’ Nemecheck (42).

Joey Logano (22) wins stage two.

Caution lap 253 of 301 for a spin by Cody Ware (51).

Ryan Blaney (12) wins.

I followed the race on nascar.com. The radio broadcast was a bit overwrought during stages one and two when I listened. The television broadcast – as usual – spent more time showing idiotic shots with terrible views from the windows of the cars. It seemed to be a boring race. I am pleased with the finish. The AI did not seem to keep up, so the Timeline displayed lap 219 info for more than fifteen minutes after the race ended instead of showing information about the final 80+ laps. Since the television broadcast is terrible and the radio broadcast is a lap and half behind or more, the Timeline is how I attempt to follow the race. When it malfunctions like it did today, it makes it difficult to follow the event. It seems that the Timeline feature has been malfunctioning more often as the season has progressed. nascar.com needs to resolve the issues with it and the site overall.
