Austin Cindric (2) easily wins stage one

Caution on lap 107 of 267 for a spin by Shave ‘SVG’ Van Gisbergen (88). Mike Joy called attention to it, so they got the tail end of the spin. Clint Bowyer went back to whatever he was saying about Christopher ‘CBell’ Bell (20) saying he ‘almost got it out’, completely ignoring what was currently happening. FOXSports needs a better color analyst (at least I think that’s what he’s supposed to be rather than the clown in the booth).

Caution on the restart on lap 113 of 267 as Kyle Busch (8) loses his right rear wheel and tire.

Caution on lap 146 of 267 for Todd Gilliland (34) tagging the wall and bouncing into Ricky Stenhouse Jr (47).

Kyle Larson (5) wins stage two.

Restart on lap 195 of 267.

Crash on the restart involves Ryan Blaney (12), Ricky Stenhouse Jr (47), Erik Jones (43). Austin Cindric (2) drove across the nose of Daniel Suarez (99) trying to put him three-wide which stacks up the field behind Suarez, then Noah Gragson (4) gets into the back of Ryan Blaney (12) sending him around in the midst of the field. AJ Allmendinger (16) sent Stenhouse around.

Restarting on lap 200 of 267.

Caution on lap 243 of 267 for Noah Gragson (4) losing a right front tire and getting into the wall.

Restarting on lap 248 of 267 with Josh Berry (21) and Daniel Suarez (99) on the front row followed by Ross Chastain (1) and Ryan Preece (60), Austin Cindric (2), and Alex Bowman (48), Allmendinger (16) and Kyle Larson (5).

Daniel Suarez gets the early lead over Josh Berry.

On lap 253 of 267 Josh Berry (21) passes Daniel Suarez (99) for the lead.

Josh Berry (21) wins his first Cup Series race!

He finished 1.358 seconds ahead of Daniel Suarez (99).

I watched a movie throughout most of the event, occasionally catching action during commercial breaks, or if nascar.com indicated some action. It was okay for a Las Vegas race. It was infinitely more interesting than the Xfinity series race. That’s unusual considering the Xfinity series race wasn’t actually broadcast live on television in Atlanta. At the time it should’ve been shown, they were showing a comedy series instead with a banner scrolling at the top of the screen indicating it was airing on a different network, but without channel details. I’ve never heard of PSN Atlanta and could not find any information about it that would allow me to see the Xfinity series race live. When the event was scheduled to be rebroadcast there were tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings in the area so parts of the race were shown between long stretches of weather coverage. Both the television and radio broadcasts of the Xfinity series race mentioned there was a caution on the first lap of the race, and the only other cautions were for stage breaks. The Cup race had many cautions throughout, for cause, and that broke up some of the strung out riding around that has become a hallmark of the Las Vegas race in recent years. The race was just okay. I’m thrilled with the winner.
