I was watching the IndyCar race at Portland and didn’t realize I was missing the Truck series race.
Watching the FOXSports broadcast and listening to the MRN broadcast with 13 laps to go.
Layne Riggs (38) is over a second ahead of second place. It appears the field is mostly strung out single file. We’re mostly following the single truck with the camera. Occasionally you’ll see another truck on the track, and occasionally you’ll get a shot of a few tracks strung out.
Layne Riggs (38) wins for the first time in the Truck series. He finishes 1.547 seconds ahead of second place.
Looks like former Cup series driver Scott Riggs – Layne’s father – is hanging on the fence congratulating his son and the 38 team on the win. It’s good to see Scott again.
Looks like one of the drivers may have collapsed after getting out of the truck. His crew members held him up for a while, then he was able to stand on his own. I’m just watching the video and looked up while it was in progress. As it turns out, Layne dislocated his shoulder during his celebration. The team was pulling on it to pop it back into place.
Congrats to Ty Dillon (25) on winning stage one.
MRN interviews Scott Riggs after talking to Layne. Scott says he’s got a bad shoulder from riding motorcycles with him and he broke his collarbone and now he dislocates his shoulder when he gets really excited.
Unless something exciting happened during the race, that looked like a race worth missing. Let’s see what lap-by-lap says happened. Basically lap-by-lap says the rest of the race was just as unexciting as the end of the race. I’m pleased with the winner, but it was not an engaging end of the race broadcast.
