Daniel Hemric (21) and Christopher Bell (20) will lead the field to the green flag. Of course its windy at the track as well as sunny. The stages are 45-45-110.
Kim Coon tries hard, but ends up talking too much. Her voice can be harsh and shrieky – though much better than it used to be – and she usually keeps talking until she repeats herself and begins to stumble and stammer. She needs someone to help her with editing her comments to keep it tight and a vocal coach to help her get her voice into a pleasant range. I believe with a bit of professional assistance in those areas she will be the best young broadcaster in NASCAR.
Caution on the starting lap for a big wreck in turn two!
Justin Allgaier (7), Austin Cindric (22), Michael Annett (5), Cole Custer (00), Ryan Truex (11) are involved as well as Spencer Gallagher (23), Christopher Bell (20). Chase Briscoe (98) and Ross Chastain (4).
The 7 is in the garage as well as a the 22. They’re pushing the 20 to the garage. The 5 is also out of the race.
I just heard Kim doing an interview with Cindric at the Care Center and he voice is in a lower register and she sounds great. She should use that register more often and remember, she has a microphone so there’s no need to shout or scream.
Justin ‘Dewy Alligator’ Allgaier (7) says he was the cause of that incident due to getting loose.
Restarting on lap 12 of 200 with Daniel Hemric (21) and Brandon Jones (19) on the front row.
Caution on lap 12 of 200 as Brandon Jones (19) loses it taps the wall bounces off, then pounds the wall.
The 19 has headed to the garage.
Restarting on lap 17 of 200 with Daniel Hemric and Ryan Preece (18) up front.
Let’s hear it for completing a green flag lap. The race is underway.
Caution on lap 25 of 200 for Spencer Gallagher (23) losing a right front tire and hitting the wall.
Restarting on lap 33 of 200 with Daniel Hemric and Ryan Preece out front.
Daniel Hemric (21) wins stage one.
Restarting on lap 52 of 200 with Daniel Hemric (21) and John Hunter Nemechek (42) in front.
Caution on lap 57 of 200 for a spin by Junior Avila (8).
Cole Custer (00) is back on the track after working on a power-steering issue for six laps. Chase Briscoe (98) gets the lucky dog to get back on the lead lap.
Restarting on lap 60 of 200 with Daniel Hemric and John Hunter Nemechek (42) in front.
Caution on lap 89 of 200 for Ryan Preece (18) hitting the wall after going three wide with two lapped cars – the Joey Gase (35) and the Garrett Smithley (0). The two lapped cars were racing for the free pass.
John Hunter Nemechek (42) wins stage 2. Seems like anybody can run fast in the 42 car. Maybe more Xfinity series teams need the knowledge and probably the cash that’s put into that car. I think it would increase the interest in the series.
Restarting on lap 98 of 200 with Daniel Hemric and John Hunter Nemechek on the front row.
There have been three leaders in this race Daniel Hemric, Josh Williams and John Hunter Nemechek, so it’s not so much been a race as an afternoon watching things happen in between one of two cars getting out front and staying there. Another week without real competition. I hope its partially due to the big wreck on lap one, but I wonder.
The tv broadcast is unwatchable really. Either we’re stuck looking out someone’s windshield – useless point of view during regular laps of a race – or looking a Krista – another useless point of view. When does NBC lose their NASCAR deal? They’ve made a mess of it overall.
Green flag pit stops underway on lap 150 of 200.
Caution on lap 164 of 200 for the Vinnie Miller (78) car that is stopped after exiting pit road. He has no power.
Elliott Sadler (1) wins the race off pit road leapfrogging a few positions after a two tire stop. Since Matt Tifft (2) stayed out he’s currently shown in the lead.
There are only 7 cars on the lead lap so JH Nemechek went back into the pits to tighten lug nuts and will restart at the tail end of the lead lap – in 7th.
Restarting on lap 168 of 200 with Matt Tifft and Elliott Sadler out front.
That didn’t work out too well for Matt Tifft, he’s falling back through the field. Daniel Hemric passes Elliott without too much difficulty. JH (42) passes Elliott shortly thereafter.
JH Nemechek passes Daniel Hemric on lap 172 of 200.
The 42 car is so much faster than the rest of the field the pass generated no excitement. JH is barely hanging onto that car. It’s faster than his talent level. John Hunter isn’t ready for the Truck series. He’s not close to ready for the Xfinity series, but put him in a car faster than any others in the field and he – like Ross Chastain – suddenly looks like a superstar. I guess that could be an effective way of getting sponsors interested in him since they apparently don’t know anything about racing and are easily fooled. Bad news for anyone who is stuck racing with him though. He doesn’t know what he’s going.
The 42 car finished up in front. Congrats Elliott Sadler on a third place finish.
Boring race after a chaotic start.
After doing his burnout, JH was trying to get out of the car, but the car kept rolling backward. He finally managed to bail out of it.
Spencer Gallagher is retiring from driving at the end of this season. I’m relieved. I saw an interview with him on television last weekend that left me concerned. His move into the GMS offices is a welcome relief.
