The chorus that did the national anthem were awesome. Wonderful version. The rendition of Taps was fantastic. The bagpipes doing amazing grace were lovely.
Lap 1 of 400 is underway and a blue sky with some fluffy white clouds. The sun is still shining, but part of the track is in shade. They’ve put some ‘sticky stuff’ on the high side of the track to try to give the drivers more racing grooves to work with.
I’m guessing the Charlotte area must have gotten hit by storms like the Atlanta area did this morning.
Caution on lap 20 of 400 . Chase Elliott, and ;It’ wrecked. Jeffrey Earnhardt seemed to blow up, then Keselowski plowed into the back of Chase Elliott who was on fire. Something came off Jeffrey’s car and apparently Chase hit the debris and it damaged his car and started a fire under the hood. Keselowski said he got into the oil and just slid into Chase.
NASCAR is going to let this caution serve as the competition caution.
PRN is saying ‘Lil Dude ‘Danica Patrick’ also got some damage in that incident. ‘Da Brat’ Erik Jones also hit the debris and has some damage.
KyBu won stage one.
Caution lap 142 for Matti Di visiting the wall,
The red flag is out for lightning in the area on lap 147. And there’s the rain.
The drivers have been recalled to their cars. There’s water standing under the cars on pit road, so they will have to move the cars so it can be dried after a one hour forty minute red flag. The cars are rolling back onto the track under caution.
Caution on lap 174 of 400 for ‘Lil Dude cutting a right side tire and visited the wall..
Truex wins stage 2,
Derrick Cope leaves the track on lap 227 with smoke trailing his car.
Lap 245 caution is out for Kevin Harvick and Kasey Kahne getting into oil laid down by Ty Dillon who blew up. Kasey may have had a left rear tire down sending him into the wall. Kutey Kyle Larson scraped the wall also. Kasey Kahne damaged Trevor Bayne a bit when he hit the wall in front of him.
Martin Truex Jr just tied DW’s record of leading the most laps in three consecutive Coca-Cola 600s.

Restarting with 67 laps to go. KyBu will lead them to the green flag.
Green flag pit stops with 32 laps to go as the leaders – Truex, KyBu and Kenseth come in.
Anybody besides me bothered by Toyota turning Jan into a hoochie mama? She had been a woman working in a Toyota dealership – helpful and knowledgeable. In the most recent commercial she’s wearing heels, a short skirt and dancing for no apparent reason. She went from being a valuable and valued employee known for her customer service chops to dancing decoration no longer in need of a brain it seems.
Jimmie is out of fuel with two to go. Frankenstein (Austin Dillon) inherits the lead.
Dillon wins He’s working with a new crew chief having dumped Slugger Labbe earlier in the week.
Congrats to Dale Earnhardt Jr on his tenth place finish.
Frankenstein tried to do a burn out and the car ran out of gas pretty quickly.
The team pushes the car to victory lane, though the driver isn’t bothering to help. Guess its good to be the owner’s grandson and too good to work with the team. They have that car rolling at a pretty good clip.
Boring race overall and thoroughly disappointing/gimmicked finish. Fuel mileage races are generally not very interesting to watch.
