2016 NASCAR Xfinity Series Race Thirty-Two Phoenix

Condolences to Darrell ‘Bubba’ Wallace and family on the death of his grandmother. Congratulations to Daniel Suarez on his first Truck Series win. I fell asleep before the race began. Congratulations to Timothy Peters who I was told made the final round of the Truck Series Chase. Go TP! The weather looks beautiful in Phoenix. The forecast here in the Atlanta metro area remains the same – smoky. There are wildfires burning in the north Georgia mountains and the winds are blowing the smoke over the Atlanta metra area, so we’ve been engulfed in smoke for days. Congratulations also to Brian Scott on his decision to retire and focus on his family. Since he’s been married and a Dad he’s seemed to be happier and completely dote on his family. I applaud the mature decision he’s made to concentrate his energy on his family. I think it will bring him greater joy, than racing, in the long run.

Congratulations to Alex Bowman on his first Cup Series pole.

Caution lap 49 of 200 for debris.

Caution lap 55 of 200 for a fiery crash into the wall by Alex Bowman.

Caution lap 93 of 200 for Jeff Green accident.

Caution on lap 105 of 200 for an incident involving Ray Black Jr.

Caution on lap 138 of 200 as Uncle Brenny tries to take down the wall.

Big wreck on lap 148 of 200. Darrell ‘Bubba’ Wallace, Corey LaJoie, Jeremy Clements, Garrett Smithley (0) all involved. Blake Koch ran into Bubba sending him into the inside SAFER barrier. Red flag is out.

Bubba is an emotional wreck coming out of the care center due to his ‘Granny’s’ death. He said Granny Jan was riding with him and he was having the best ride of his life.

They’re talking about Erik Jones being ahead of Blake Koch for the cutoff. I thought EJ was eliminated in an earlier round of the proceedings. Hmmm, I guess not. Weird.

It’s another race with Kyle Busch stinking up the show. At least with the Chase format the reporters know who to talk about besides Kyle.

Kyle wins.

Oddly enough Ricky ‘Stinkhouse’ Stenhouse is in this race. He finished third. Congrats to Daniel Suarez and Justin ‘Dewy Alligator’ Allgaier on finishing fourth and fifth respectively.

The final four are:

  • Daniel Suarez
  • Elliott Sadler
  • Erik Jones
  • Justin Allgaier

Poor Blake Koch missed the cut by five points. Darrell ‘Bubba’ Wallace Jr and Brendan Gaughan were also eliminated from the final race, as was Ryan Reed.

NASCAR officials are looking at the lugnuts on Elliott Sadler’s car and taking pictures of the wheels.

Blake Koch started out his interview apologizing to Bubba for hitting him. He said he didn’t have any idea Bubba was there and was trying to pass the 22. If the points penalty is high enough there are surmising that Blake could be in and Elliott out due to the lugnuts. There’s possibly a loose one on the right rear of the #1 car. If he’s out Blake Koch will finally be able to shave that horrible fuzzy Chase beard. He looks like he’s auditioning for a role in Duck Dynasty. According to the guys on the radio his wife hates it. I’m with her. It’s a mess.

If Blake Koch gets in due to lugnuts it will be more disappointing than Carl Edwards getting into the Sprint Cup final four due to NASCAR calling the race for rain.

Speaking of auditioning is Dale Jarrett auditioning for drunken Santa somewhere with that ratty fuzz on his face.

Scott Miller says the crew chief will be suspended for two lugnuts not up against the wheel. And there will be a large fine for the crew chief Kevin ‘Bono’ Manion. They no longer take points away for lugnut infractions. So Elliott will race for the championship in Homestead with a fill-in crew chief.
