Someone should explain to Mikey that hysteria and excitement are NOT the same. When you sound hysterical you amp up the anxiety in the audience, not the excitement. Instead of selling the race, you leave the audience nervous and reduce the enjoyment of the event. Dale Earnhardt Jr, a winning driver, is in the booth. Why is Michael Waltrip there also? I understand Adam Alexander can’t quite handle things on his own, but Andy Petree is a wonderful on-air personality and a crew chief. He would be a very welcome addition to the Xfinity broadcasts on FOX – actually to both the Xfinity and Sprint Cup races. The Xfinity broadcasts feel underfunded and understaffed at this point – like FOX doesn’t really care and is doing the bare minimum for th Xfinity series. It’s shameful.
My sympathies to Erik Jones who’s father died this week. Peace Erik.
I look forward to the day when Michael Waltrip and Larry McReynolds are replaced by top talent. I know that’s unlikely looking at Fox Sports’ history of replacing talent with cheap imitations of talent, but I still have hope. If you’re going to dream, why not dream big?
Congratulations to William Byron on his second win in the Camping World Truck series. Congrats to German Quiroga on his return to the series at last night’s race in Texas. Alex Bowman will lead the field to the green flag. Congrats to Alex on winning the pole.
Don’t seem to be many people in Michigan. I guess there aren’t that many people who prefer to see the Sprint Cup stars in the Xfinity series maybe. Who knows. I know I like the idea that there are different series with different drivers. Of course I like things that are different and good. Many people like things that are the same. So I imagine they prefer the Xfinity series with Cup guys. Eh, different strokes and all that.
I wonder if Drew Herring has a shot of getting a good ride? He’s a talented driver who might be a winner if he could get a great car and consistent time in the car.
Oooh I’m excited, next week Xfinity is at Iowa. I would be more excited if it happened at a time when the Cup guys couldn’t make the race so it would be all Xfinity drivers, but maybe more of the Cup guys will enjoy Father’s Day weekend off at home watching the race instead of participating. Once again dreaming big.
Can someone please get ‘It’ (Brad Keselowski) either a clue or a large team of mental health professionals? I can’t determine if he’s delusional, deeply narcissistic or just clueless. Either way he needs help – though a muzzle or wired jaw and broken thumbs might work as well. That poor boy is pathetic with his persecution complex and impulse-control issues.
I was thrilled that Dale Earnhardt Jr would be in the booth for the Xfinity race, but he seemed to struggle getting a word in edgewise. Michael Waltrip wouldn’t stop babbling. Mikey is a detriment to the Fox Sports broadcasts. His gimmick looks gimmicky – and not in a good way. I thought NASCAR was attempting to show more sophistication while keeping a little ‘flavor’. Instead Michael Waltrip, Nicole Trotta, Adam Alexander, Larry McReynolds and Chris Myers all combine to make NASCAR look amateurish, tacky and quite unsophisticated – homespun.
When Dale Jr. had the opportunity to complete a thought sounded smart, knowledgeable, interested, and excited. Mikey always seems only self-interested – trying to make himself the center of attention and the center of every story. He’s just not good at the job. There’s no shame in that, if you move on and let someone who is good at the job take your place.
Daniel Suarez WINS Michigan!!! Finally a win by Daniel. He’s been soooo close often. It’s great to see him win.
I really appreciated the car that rode below the white line to stay out of the way of the KyBu and Daniel as Daniel made that pass for the lead. I believe it was the 28 car of Dakoda Armstrong. To whomever the driver of the black car passed by the leaders after they passed J.J. Yeley – GOOD JOB of not interfering with the race results!!!
