2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series Race Twenty-Four Daytona

Cars in field: 38
Pole: Connor Zilisch (88)
Outside Pole: Sam Mayer (41)
Stages: 30-30-40
Weather: Mostly cloudy, 82°F, Feels like 89°, Feels like (shade) 89°, Wind E 5 mph, Wind Gusts 5 mph

Qualifying was cancelled for both series for a lightning hold. At 1954 eastern the teams are removing the car covers. The skies are still quite cloudy. Adam Alexander of the CW booth says the lightning hold has been lifted. The drivers are getting into their cars 1955 eastern.

Pole sitter Connor Zilisch (88) is expected to fall to the rear of the field early, ride around in the back until the first caution when he can get out of the car. He was cleared to race mid-week following surgery to repair the collar-bon he broke after falling off his car window in Victory Lane two weeks ago.

Harrison Burton (25) spins on lap 10 of 100. The race stays green.

Caution on lap 12 of 100 for rain though the television camera frequently focused on debris below the yellow line.

Connor Zilisch (88) hits pit road on lap 13 of 100. Parker Kligerman is standing ready to get in the car.

MRN reports Parker Retzlaff (4) has lost power-steering.

MRN reports on lap 20 of 100 that Harrison Burton has something in his eye following his spin and is attempting to avoid pitting for assistance.

Parker Kligerman (88) was on pit road again as they get the one-to-go. He topped off with fuel. He has stopped twice during this caution.

MRN said at 2043 on lap 21 of 100 rain has started again and they are bringing the cars down pit road. Red flag is out.

Caution flag is out at 2124 eastern. The red flag period lasted around 44 minutes.

Restarting on lap 23 of 100.

Caution on lap 30 of 100 Sammy Smith (8) wins the stage under caution as some cars spin including Carson Kvapil (1) and possibly Taylor Gray (54) and Blaine Perkins (31), along with Nick Sanchez (48), Dean Thompson (26), and Jeb Burton (27).

Restarting on lap 35 of 100.

Carson Kvapil (1) is on pit road on lap 38 of 100 after a spin.

This stage went from some three-wide racing, to them driving around two-by-two occasionally swapping lanes – to a bit of single file driving, then back to Noah’s ark formation. This style of racing seems to highlight the driver deficiencies more than offering an opportunity for an unexpected winner to race the highly funded teams.

The television coverage is awful. You can rarely see the car numbers to follow the race visually due to the distant and oddly-angled camera shots.

Caution on lap 58 of 100 as Sammy Smith (8) goes around collecting William Sawalich (18) and Jeb Burton (27). Sawalich got into the back of Jeb sending him into the left rear corner of Smith which sent him around.

Stage two ends under caution with Justin Allgaier (7) up front.

Restarting on lap 66 of 100.

Caution on la 66 of 100 for Anthony Alfredo (42) creeping around the apron of the track. MRN reports he doesn’t have any power. He was unable to turn left to get into the pits. He was asking for someone to push him. He said he tried to get out of the way on the restart when he realized he didn’t have power, but just couldn’t make it.

Restarting on lap 71 of 100.

The 32 of Rajah Caruth spins out on lap 73 of 100 and the race stays green.

The field is two-wide logging laps with Sheldon Creed (00) and Ryan Sieg (39) at the front of the outside and inside lanes.

On lap 83 of 100 the first half-dozen cars are single-file ahead of the rest of the pack.

A second lane has been created on the inside and is making progress toward the front of the field on lap 85 of 100.

Caution on lap 89 of 100 for a crash involving Jeremy Clements, Cesar Baccarella (5) and Taylor Gray (54), along with Josh Bilicki (91). Taylor Gray lost it, hit the outside wall and slid in front of Jeremy Clements. Baccarella went around when he attempted to check up to avoid the crash.

MRN reports on lap 91 of 100 that Jeremy Clements (51) has gone to the garage.

Restarting on lap 94 of 100 with Ryan Sieg (39), Parker Kligerman (88), Austin Hill (21), Justin Allgaier (7), Jesse Love (2), Sheldon Creed (00), Matt ‘MattiD’ DiBenedetto (99), Christian Eckes (), Sammy Smith (8), Jeb Burton (27) up front.

Caution on lap 96 of 100 as Ryan Sieg (39) gets turned attempting to block Leland Honeyman (70) in front of the field and Daniel Dye (10) gets collected along with MattiD (99), William Sawalich (18), Jeb Burton (27), Josh Williams (45), Aric Almirola (20), Harrison Burton (25), Christian Eckes (16), Ryan Ellis (71), Sheldon Creed (00)

Restarting in overtime 102 of 104 with Parker Kligerman (88), Austin Hill (21), Justin Allgaier (7), Leland Honeyman (70), Jesse Love (2), Brandon Jones (20), Sammy Smith (8), Sam Mayer (41), Brennan Poole (44), Nick Sanchez (48) up front.

kligerman takes the white flag.

Caution for a massive wreck involving

Parker Kligerman holds off Justin Allgaier to win.

Connor Zilisch goes down to greet Parker Kligerman. Parker tried to plant the flag in the infield grass and broke it. The win will be credited to Connor Zilisch though Parker Kligerman drove the car for most of the event. That gives Zilisch 7 wins.

JRM finished 1st through 3rd – Parker Kligerman/Connor Zilisch (88), Justin Allgaier (7), Sammy Smith (8).

Parker said team owner Dale Jr got on the radio and got onto him about not taking the lead when he was being patient and trying to take care of teammate Justin Allgaier (7). I’ve quickly gotten tired of Dale Jr advocating against Allgaier in favor of Zilisch. This is twice in two races he has done so.

Involved in the last lap crash were Austin Hill (21), Nick Sanchez (48), Justin Haley (11), Aric Almirola (19), Garrett Smithley (14), Leland Honeyman Jr (70), Brenna Poole (44), Dean Thompson (26), Sheldon Creed (00), Patrick Emerling (07), Joey Gase (53),

The race was generally okay, with a lot of boring sections. I was looking forward to the end, rather than enjoying the racing. Again, I don’t know if that’s completely due to the sucky broadcast coverage of the event, or if the race really was that boring to watching during large portions of it. It’s hard to say because the coverage is so awful. I was conflicted with the finish. I was happy for Kligerman, but disappointed he won’t really get the credit for his accomplishment. Instead NASCAR’s latest pick is given more than he deserves.
