PRN (NRN) reports that if NASCAR runs the scheduled distance under caution they will still have an overtime restart under green.

At 1703 eastern on the radio broadcast Alex Hayden says it is raining hard in turn one and they have lost the track.

At 1705 eastern the cars are rolling down pit road behind the pace car.

1707 eastern the red flag is displayed. The sun is shining on pit road while the rain is falling in turn one.

1726 eastern the caution flag is displayed.

Restarting in overtime on lap 161 of 163 with Darrell ‘Bubba’ Wallace (23), Kyle Larson (5), William ‘WillyB’ Byron (24), ‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin (11), Josh Berry (21), Chase Briscoe (19), Christopher ‘CBell’ Bell (20), Chris Buescher (17), Carson Hocevar (77) and Brad ‘It’ Keselowski (6) at the front of the field.

Wallace gets the early lead passing Larson after a door-to-door battle.

Caution is out for a crash involving Zane Smith, and collected Tyler Reddick just before they take the white flag. PRN reports CBell turned Zane Smith. Zane turned to the wall and spun in front of Reddick who hit Smith and sent him spinning down the track where Zane’s spinning car hit Joey Logano.

There was a lot of discussion on the radio about the fuel situation for the leaders. PRN reported they all said they were good for one green-white-checkered restart. They report Hamlin’s crew said ‘save hard’.

Restarting in second overtime with Bubba Wallace (23), Kyle Larson (5), William Byron (24), Denny Hamlin (11), Josh Berry (21), Carson Hocevar (77), Ryan Preece (60), Chris Buescher (17), Christopher Bell (20) and Todd Gilliland (34) at the front of the field.

Hamlin made the fastest lap of the race on the final lap of the race at 49.741 seconds and earns a playoff point.

Based on what I watched, as well as on the recap shown during the rain delay, I saw the best that the race offered. It was the usual mediocre Brickyard 400. I am pleased the leader at the rain delay persevered through the multiple restarts to win the race.
