On lap 370 of 400 PRN continues to report weather is in the area. They mentioned Chase Elliott (9) has led 238 laps of the race so far, but has been unable to gain on leader ‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin (11) and his teammate Christopher ‘CBell’ Bell (20)

Caution on lap 383 of 400 for a crash involving Ross Chastain (1).

There’s a big, dark cloud over the track at 1731 eastern.

Red flag is displayed.

PRN reports the rain is pouring down at the track now and they have lost the track.

The sun is shining as it is pouring rain.

‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin (11) is out of the car as PRN reports the rain has stopped at 1739 on lap 386 of 400.

PRN announces at 1753 they are going to turn programming over to local stations at 1800 and will be back at 1830.

The caution flag is shown on nascar.com’s leaderboard, though the television broadcast shows people milling about on pit road.

PRN reports the engines have just restarted and the pace car is leading the field off pit road so drying can take place where the cars were parked. The cars are parked on the apron. NASCAR doesn’t seem to be trying to waste laps for a change.

Doug Turnbull says, at 1837, it is 12 degrees cooler than it was. PRN also announced the pit road lights were down and they have a person with a flag signalling. At 1838 PRN announces the pit road lights are back on. Some stay out, some pit. The leaders back to 12 position stay out.

Restarting on lap 392 of 400 with ‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin (11), Christopher ‘CBell’ Bell (20), Chase Elliott (9), Kyle Larson (5), Alex Bowman (48), William ‘WillyB’ Byron (24), Austin Dillon (3), Noah Gragson (4), Tyler ‘TyRed’ Reddick (45), and Chase Briscoe (19) up front.

Caution on lap 393 of 400 for a spin by CBell and Noah Gragson crashing into the inside wall. Bell lost air underneath teammate Hamlin and went around. Gragson bounced off the wall and hit WillyB.

Restarting in overtime on lap 399 of 401 ‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin (11), Kyle Larson (5), Chase Elliott (9), Chase Briscoe (19), Alex Bowman (48), Darrell ‘Bubba’ Wallace (23), Ty ‘Grandson of Team Owner Joe Gibbs’ Gibbs (54), Tyler ‘TyRed’ Reddick (45), Austin Dillon (3), and Ryan Blaney (12) up front.

Caution comes out for a spin by Zane Smith (38).

Restarting in overtime with Denny Hamlin (11), Chase Briscoe (19), Kyle Larson (5), Alex Bowman (48), Ty Gibbs (54), Darrell ‘Bubba’ Wallace (23), Chase Elliott (9), Ryan Blaney (12), Chris Buescher (17), and Tyler ‘TyRed’ Reddick (45) up front.

Hamlin gets the early jump

‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin easily beats Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Chase Briscoe.

The finish ended up being anticlimactic after CBell (20) was no longer challenging for the lead.

Bowman says he has been sick and his cool shirt did not work today, so he’s really hot.

Ty Dillon (10) is getting interviewed on PRN as a result of his beating out John Hunter ‘JHN’ Nemechek (42) in the in-season challenge. He will run for a million dollars next week in the in-season challenge.

The fastest lap of the race was on lap 407 by the winner of the race.

The race did not live up to the potential offered by a late race restart. The initial restart between teammates Hamlin and Bell was exciting and competitive until Bell spun out. From that point on the race was effectively over when Briscoe restarted beside teammate Hamlin. I don’t feel I missed anything by watching something other than the majority of the laps. I watched the final dozen laps of the first stage and the final hundred laps of the final stage. Pretty blah event.

Congrats to Brittany Force on a new speed record in NHRA of 341.85 mph.
