2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Race Eight Texas

Trucks in field: 32
Pole: Tyler Ankrum (18)
Outside Pole: Daniel Hemric (19)
Stages: 40-40-87
Weather: Mostly cloudy, 67°F, Feels like 66°, Feels like (shade) 66°, Wind NNW 4 mph, Wind Gusts 9 mph

Apparently there has been weather in the area so qualifying was rained out and the field was set using ‘the matrix’.

About four laps in they started the gimmicky camera shots, so apparently the production folks aren’t expecting this to be a watchable racing event.

On lap 9 of 167 they seem to be showing a replay of the view from a driver’s windshield followed by a driver driving. Since neither of those views really show anything relevant about the on-track racing, again it appears the television broadcast folks don’t believe there’s anything worth watching occurring live on-track. This early in the event if they are showing, and talking about, anything besides what’s happening on track live they are indicating to the viewing audience that this broadcast is a waste of time.

A slo-mo replay on lap 17 of 167. Looked like trucks slowly driving.

Oh great, a good a shot of the sky, the billboards around the track, the bed and spoiler of a truck, and the windscreen and roof of another. What idiotic video.

Competition caution on lap 20 of 167.

That was short. Since the cameras spent so much time showing anything and everything that was not trucks on the track, from outside the trucks, racing, it was a short and useless stage. The short duration was the highlight of that portion of the event.

Caution on lap 31 of 167 for a crash involving Gio Ruggerio (17), who hit the grass and spun in front of the field into and in front of Kaden Honeycutt (45) who had nowhere to go sliding up in front of Brandon Jones (1). Stewart Friesen (52) reportedly also went around.

Grant Enfinger (9) wins stage one.

Caution on lap 51 of 167 for a spin by Layne Riggs (34).

There are too many commercials – on both the television and radio broadcasts of this race.

Caution on the restart on lap 57 of 167 for Andres Perez De Lara (77) hitting the wall.

Caution on lap 63 of 167 for Layne Riggs (34) going through the grass after contact with Luke Fenhaus (66).

A safety truck appeared to spin during that caution..

They television broadcast continually chooses a seemingly random collection of three or four trucks then follows them around the track ignoring the racing of the rest of the field. After shots of three trucks, then two trucks, now it’s the bed cover and spoiler of a few trucks. They seem to have no interest in, or no idea how to broadcast, this race.

Luckily the stage is almost over.

Corey Heim (11) wins stage two.

Ty Majeski (98) pits on lap 119 of 167 kicking off green flag pit stops.

Caution on lap 147 of 167 for Frankie Muniz (33). Looks like he got into the wall and lost the right front tire. So Corey Heim (11) is no longer more than ten seconds ahead of second position.

Restarting on lap 153 of 167 with Corey Heim (11), Grant Enfinger (9), Stewart Friesen (52), Ben Rhodes (99), Chandler Smith, Stefan Parsons, Rajah Caruth, Bayley Currey, Daniel Hemric, and Matt Mills up front.

Cation on lap 155 of 167 as Stewart Friesen (52) gets loose, collects Grant Enfinger (9) sending them both into the wall in front of Chandler Smith (38) who had nowhere to go.

PRN reports Stewart Friesen (52) said he banged his knee in the crash.

Red flag is out.

Frankie Muniz (33) said, during his radio interview, his right rear exploded and sent him into the wall.

Caution flag is out.

They’re working on a hole in the wall in the aftermath of Friesen’s crash while the trucks circle under caution.

Restarting on lap 161 of 167 with Corey Heim (11), Ben Rhodes (99), Rajah Caruth (71), Parsons, Hemric, Bayley Currey (44), Sutton, Tanner Gray, Ankrum and Mills up front.

Heim gets the early jump to the lead.

Caution on lap 162 of 167 for a crash involving Jake Garcia (13) and Connor Mosack (81).

Restarting in overtime on lap 167 of 170 with Corey Heim (11), Ben Rhodes (99), Rajah Caruth (71), Daniel Hemric (19), Stefan Parsons (20), Tanner Gray (15), Bayley Currey (44), Matt Crafton (88), Tyler Ankrum (98), and Jack Wood (91).

Rajah Caruth takes the early lead.

Caution comes out for Matt Mills (42) who hit the gras and got front-end damage.

Restarting in overtime on lap 170 of 173 with Corey Heim (11), Ben Rhodes (99), Rajah Caruth (71), Tanner Gray (15), Daniel Hemric (19), Tyler Ankrum (98), Matt Crafton (88), Jack Wood (91), Bayley Currey (44), and Dawson Sutton (26).

The lap counter no longer displays the actual lap count in overtime this year. I wish they’d get that working again. I like to know the actual lap count and there’s too much info in the raw feed to quickly see the lap count.

Heim (11) can’t get away from Rhodes (99) for the lead. They’re door-to-door. Daniel Hemric (19) catches up and takes them three-wide for the lead. I saw smoke come up from Rhodes, seemingly having some issue, and begins to fall back through the field. Heim quickly drives away from Hemric, taking the lead and winning relatively easily.

Corey Heim (11) wins.

There seemed to be some racing on-track, but television was showing other stuff – side-window, bed cover, windscreen, drivers driving, in-car cameras that showed crap shots, along with basically only showing 2-4 cars at a time, for long period of time.

That was almost mediocre at best – very just okay. There was almost some racing towards the end. Corey Heim (11) seems to have a truck so much faster than the entire field that it doesn’t feel much like a race more often than not. Combined with the exasperatingly awful video that shows anything that isn’t race action, it is a really boring broadcast.
