Aric ‘Afterbuner’ Almirola (19) wins Stage 2. Justin Allgaier (7) finishes the stage second.
The PRN crew are gabbing with Cup driver Ross Chastain about any and everything indicating nothing much is going on. They occasionally mention how far ahead the first and second place cars are from each other – around a second – and the rest of the field – over ten seconds. Maybe that’s why CW/Peachtree TV Atlanta decided not to bother to show the race live? It will be broadcast tonight at 8:30pm. Oddly, they showed the pre-race show. They had a banner across the top of the screen that the race could be seen on PSN Atlanta – not sure what that is and the banner didn’t provide any specifics.
On lap 188 of 200 PRN is calling a battle for the lead as Aric ‘Afterburner’ Almirola (19) has chased down leader Justin Allgaier (7) and is seeking an opening to take over the top spot.
Justin Allgaier takes the white flag.
Justin Allgaier (7) wins 1.067 seconds head of Almirola!
Connor Zilisch had the fastest lap of the day and gets a point.
Allgaier led 102 of 200 laps.
Justin Allgaier collected 59 of the 61 points available today.
Today was tax prep day for me, so since the race wasn’t shown on television and PRN had the radio call, I didn’t tune in until around lap 150 of 200. The field was strung out at that point, so nothing to hear other than the PRN guys babbling about Chastain’s parents and other minutiae. I am extremely please with the finish.
