Cars in field: 38

Outside Pole: Austin Hill (21)
Stages: 45-45-73
Weather: Cloudy, 52°F, Wind WNW 5 mph, Wind Gusts 12 mph
Caution on lap 6 of 163 for a slide by Ryan Sieg (39). Dean Thompson (26) had stopped on the track with a flat left rear tire after tagging the wall. The caution wasn’t displayed until Sieg got partially on the apron and the back-end of the car came around. PRN announced that the caution for Thompson stopped on the track. They said NASCAR would have something to say about that. Thompson will be penalized one lap for intentionally drawing a caution by stopping on the track. PRN says it may have been strategic since he would’ve gotten a penalty if he had pitted, so they likely took the lesser penalty. There was some discussion about the location of the pit road entrance and the speed they need to have leading to the pit entrance.
The grandstands look sparse. The weather is not conducive to an outdoor event in spite of the fact the sun is now peeking out. It’s just too chilly to comfortably enjoy sitting in the stands. The lights are already on at 1724. The temperature will drop quickly as the sun sets.
Restarting on lap 12 of 163 with Jesse Love (2) and Sam Mayer (41) up front.
Just about every time I look up I see some driver driving. I guess there’s nothing going on. Okay, outside the car they’re driving around single-file. Nothing much going on near the end of stage one on lap 44 of 163.
<– 1739 –>Austin Hill (21) wins stage one. Boring stage.
Restarting on lap 53 of 163 with Austin Hill (21), Sam Mayer (41), Jesse Love (2), Sheldon Creed (00), and Sammy Smith (8) up front.
The field is single-file on lap 59 of 163.
A second lane has been created as the laps in stage two wind down on lap 80 of 163.
Austin Hill (21) wins stage two. Boring stage.
They showed an area with outdoor heaters. That looked like a good place to be
Current Weather – 6:22 PM at Mostly cloudy, 50°F, Feels like 49°, Wind WNW 4 mph, Wind Gusts 9 mph
Restarting on lap 98 of 163 with Austin Hill (21) and Justin Allgaier (7) on the front row.
Wow, they’ve managed to not go single-file so far, on lap 106 of 163. There are two lanes racing for positions.
Caution on lap 107 of 163 for CJ McLaughlin (92) reportedly getting into the wall. Now that the incident is over the television broadcast is following the 92 car as it slowly drives around the track and into his pit stall. They were showing the front of the field when the incident occurred, so, as usual, they missed the interesting action. They finally break away from the crew working on the car on pit road and show a driver driving. They finally find a shot of the car seemingly coming away from the wall and continuing to drive, before going to full-screen commercial. After a hundred laps of nothing, they manage to miss the one unusual thing that occurs on the track. PRN is reporting about fuel mileage chatter on various radios.
PRN reports Austin Hill (21) has led 94 of 110 laps.
Restarting on lap 113 of 163 with Austin Hill (21) and Nick Sanchez (48) up front as the second and third place cars line up behind Hill.
Caution on lap 118 of 163 for a spin by Jeremy Clements (51) collecting Taylor Gray (54) and Connor Zilisch (88).
Restarting on lap 123 of 163 with Austin Hill (21) and Ryan Sieg (39) up front as again the second and third cars line up behind Hill.
Brandon Jones (20) is smoking going around the track on lap 125 of 163; looks like a tire rub.
Caution on lap 126 of 163 for a spin by Brandon Jones (20). The 53 of Mason Maggio is in the tire barrier.
Broken upper control arm end Taylor Gray’s day (54) according to PRN quoting crew chief Jason Ratcliff.
Restarting on lap 131 of 163 with Austin Hill (21) and second-place Ryan Sieg (39) on the front row. Two Georgia residents on the front row. Hill is from Winston and Sieg is from Tucker.
The front dozen have singled out on lap 137 of 163.
On lap 142 of 163 PRN’s Brad Gilley or Mark Garrow says the energy is building on the track. We’re being shown the bumper-cam of a car, so we see the hood of another car.
Caution on lap 142 of 163 for a crash involving Sam Mayer (41) and Anthony ‘FastPasta’ Alfredo (42), Nick Sanchez (48), collecting Nick Leitz (07). Sanchez got loose causing Mayer to hit the wall and FastPasta also got collected.
The right side door has peeled back on Connor Zilisch’s car (88). The 88 crew have the sawsall out and are removing area around the right front tire.
Restarting on lap 150 of 163 with Austin Hill (21) and Aric Almirola (19) on the front row. Second-place Justin Allgaier (7) lines up behind leader Hill.
Caution on lap 154 of 163 for debris in turn two.
PRN reports they’re backing up the Connor Zilisch (88) car and heading to the garage for repairs. They say you can see the skeleton of the car on the right side since it is missing the door, the foam and just about everything else on the right side.
Restarting on lap 160 of 163 with Austin Hill (21) and Justin Allgaier (7) on the front row.
crash on final lap as Parker Retzlaff (4) turns into the outside wall, following a bump from Sheldon Creed (00), and collects Ryan Sieg (39), Christian Eckes (16), and others.
Austin Hill (21) wins. Justin Allgaier (7) edges Aric Almirola (19) for second.
Austin Hill (21) led 146 of 163 laps. Boring.
Boring event. Too much single-file riding. Too little knowledge of what it takes to do well in this race. Too many kids without the talent, skill, or knowledge to race this event, but with fast enough cars to cause problems for cars like the 39 of Ryan Sieg. I’m not sure that was worth the time spent, but I’m certain it was not worth being cold in the grandstands.
