They started the windscreen shot heading to the green flag. Bored before the start of the event. They really need to get some NASCAR racing fans in the broadcast truck. The people in charge of broadcasting the race clearly have little to no interest in NASCAR race action and show anything but racing. On lap 1 of 109 we are stuck watching a windshield wiper moving back and forth with the movement of the car, and the track surface. Thoroughly useless. That changes to a three-way split-screen of a driver’s feet, a helmeted driver and their gloves on the steering wheel, plus a small screen of some portion of the field driving around. Absolutely no way to determine what is actually going on with the race.
Shane ‘SVG’ Van Ginsbergen (13) gets the early lead.
Due to the dreadful coverage I’m watching other television shows and checking in on the race intermittently. If I turn to the channel and see a wall, a windshield wiper, the track surface, a car’s bumper, one or two cars in a close-up shot without context, I go back to the other television programming I am watching. I’m listening to the PRN broadcast and they seem to be all over the place, talking about a little bit of everything, because there’s little racing to really talk about.
Tyler ‘TyRed’ Reddick (45) wins stage one.
Some pit, some stay out.
Restarting on lap 28 of 109 with Kyle Larson (5), and Shane Van Ginsbergen (13) up front. Larson gets the early lead.
On lap 30 of 109 Tyler Reddick (45) and Austin Dillon (3) go around. The event stays green.
Caution on lap 35 of 109 for a flat tire Chase Briscoe (14).
Restarting on lap 39 of 109 with Larson and SVG still up front.
PRN reports Chase Briscoe’s (14) day is done on lap 44 of 109. Doug Rice also says Tyler Reddick’s (45) car is ‘so under-performing’ that his day may soon be over.
Alex Bowman (48) wins stage two.
Kyle Larson (5) has scored enough points to advance to the next round of the play-offs.
Restarting on lap 54 of 109 with AJ Allmendinger (16), Joey Logano (22), Darrell ‘Bubba’ Wallace (23), Austin ‘MyFatherIsAPenskeExec’ Cindric (2), Michael McDowell (34), Kyle ‘KyBu’ Busch (8), Kyle Larson (5), ‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin (11), Christopher ‘CBell’ Bell (20), Todd Gilliland (38) up front.
On lap 55 of 109 John Hunter ‘JHN’ Nemechek (42) goes around and collects teammate Erik ‘EJ’ Jones (43), Ross Chastain (1).
Caution on lap 55 of 109 for debris.
Restarting on lap 59 of 109 with AJ Allmendinger (16), Darrell ‘Bubba’ Wallace (23), Joey Logano (22), Kyle Larson (5), Austin Cindric (2), Kyle ‘KyBu’ Busch (8), Christopher ‘CBell’ Bell (20), Michael McDowell (34) at the front of the field. Allmendinger gets the early lead.
Chris Buescher (17) goes for a spin collecting SVG (13) in the process on lap 61 of 109.
Green flag pit stops are underway on la 70 of 109.
On lap 80 of 109 Austin Dillon’s (3) left from tire came off the car and rolled down the side of the track bringing out the caution.
Restarting on lap 83 of 109 with Kyle Larson (5), Christopher ‘CBell’ Bell (20), William ‘WilliB’ Byron (24), Austin Cindric (2), Joey Logano (22), and Wallace up front. Larson gets the early lead.
PRN is basically calling the battle for the cut-off between Joey Logano (22) and Tyler ‘TyRed’ Reddick (45).
Allmendinger (16) passes Logano putting Logano and Reddick in a tie. Joey wins the tie-break. There are still 11 laps to go in this endless event.
Apparently, according to PRN, Tyler Reddick (45) is behind team-owner ‘Desperate’ Denny Hamlin (11) and that position could possibly improve his play-off hopes. Of course Reddick gets past Hamlin on lap 99 of 109 giving Reddick a one point lead over Logano.
Reddick is moving past cars and putting Logano further and further behind in the play-off battle.
SVG passes Logano for position. Logano is chasing him.
PRN reports Reddick’s team told him Logano has stalled and Reddick should just keep passing cars when possible.
Leader Kyle Larson is 2.632 seconds ahead of second-place ‘CBell’ on lap 104 of 109.
Finally Larson takes the white flag.
There’s an area of the track on of the PRN guys is calling ‘Redneck Hill’.
Kyle Larson (5) wins 1.511 seconds ahead of second position.
