2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series Race Twenty-Four Atlanta

Cars in field: 37
Pole: Jesse Love (2)
Outside Pole: Taylor Gray (19)
Stages: 40-40-83
Weather: Mostly cloudy, 85°F, Feels like (sun) 93°, Feels like (shade) 85°, Wind NW 3 mph, Wind Gusts 6 mph

The outside lane led by gets the early lead Jesse Love (2) with a strong push and the line stayed closer together.

On lap 3 of 163 television is already bored and has gone to incomprehensible split-screens.

On lap 10 of 163 Ryan Sieg is slowly making his way down the apron and getting slower and slower. Anthony ‘FastPasta’ Alfredo enters pit road behind him with right side damage. Television was showing only Sieg slowly putt-putting around the track for a while then went to a split-screen. Eventually then managed a shot that likely included Alfredo tagging the wall.

Caution comes out on lap 11 of 163.

Ryan Sieg (39) reports a coil wire came off in the car according to Wendy Venturini of PRN.

PRN’s Doug Rice said the field was determined to be calm and quickly got into single file.

Restarting on lap 16 of 163 with Jesse Love (2) and teammate Austin Hill (21) up front starting on the outside line.

On lap 22 of 163 Dawson Cram heads to the garage with engine problems according to PRN.

Justin Allgaier (7) takes the lead on lap 24 of 163.

Justin Allgaier (1) holds off Austin Hill (21) to win stage one by 0.012 seconds.

Restarting on lap 47 of 162 with Justin Allgaier (7) and AJ Allmedinger (16) on the front row followed by second-place Sammy Smith (8).

Allmendinger (16) gets the early lead in the outside lane.

Caution on lap 76 of 163 for Sam Mayer (1) on fire after tagging the wall after turning himself on the front bumper of somebody. Of course the NBC coverage is a wacky shot that only shows the front bumper of the car. According to PRN it was the 19 car of Taylor Gray (19).

AJ Allmendinger (16) gets the stage two lead under caution.

Restarting on lap 86 of 163 with Taylor Gray (19) and AJ Allmedinger (16) in first and second place.

Taylor Gray (19) gets the push to the lead.

Caution on lap 98 of 163 for Shane ‘SVG’ Van Gisbergen getting into the outside wall.

Restarting on lap 104 of 163 with Chandler Smith (81) and Cole Custer (00) in first and second position.

PRN is excitedly calling the race. NBCSports is showing a lot of split-screens and distant shots obviously bored with what’s going on on-track. What I see on television isn’t remotely exciting. I’m unsure if the event is as boring as the television coverage of the event. If MRN were calling it I’d have a better idea since they generally call the race a little more accurately. They tend to avoid sounding overly excited when the action is mediocre. The PRN guys will yell and scream calling the on-track action then later say (during the broadcast, or the following week) that the race was calm and uneventful.

Caution on lap 108 of 163 for Jeb Burton (27) something happening to Jeb Burton. He may have lost a tire and spun. Yep, finally a replay that shows what occurred, he indeed lost his left rear and ended up spinning. The first replay showed him driving the car which was totally useless, as well as the window net of a car and the side of a car, also useless. On the third replay we finally got to see what occurred. I hate NBC ‘racing’ coverage.

Restarting on lap of 163 with up front Cole Custer (00), Chandler Smith (81), Riley Herbst (98), Taylor Gray (19), Aj Allmendinger (16), Jesse Love (2), Anthony Alfredo (5), Josh Williams (11), Austin Hill (21), Ryan Truex (20).

I’m not bothering with who’s on the front row right now because nobody wants to line up on the inside except the desperate these days, so it’s not worth noting the actual front row at the moment.

Now that we’re at 20 laps to go in the race, let’s see if the coverage is watchable – nope – looking at the hood of

Lap 144 of 163 caution for a crash involving Riley Herbst (98), Justin Allgaier (7), Ryan Sieg (39), Cole Custer (00), Jesse Love (2), Taylor Gray (19). We were stuck inside a car looking at the hood and the bumper of two other cars wen suddenly there was a car in the wall. I’m hoping NBC will show a decent replay.

Justin Allgaier (7) and Cole Custer (00) got together and Allgaier lost a right front tire – due to the contact – in front of Taylor Gray (19)who had nowhere to go. Custer also went spinning and Riley Herbst (98) pushed sideways by Ryan Sieg (39) crashed into the sideways Custer.

Red flag is out at 1708 eastern. 1722 caution is out.

Brandon Jones (9) reports losing all power and fuel pressure. Justin Allgaier (7) pushed the car into his pit. The car will restart then shuts off. He was able to get it restarted and heads back onto the track. Allgaier heads to the garage.

NBC reports the right rear tire was flat when he came in for the fuel issue.

Restarting on lap 150 of 163 with Chandler Smith (81), Austin Hill (21), Corey Heim (26), Parker Kligerman (48), Josh Williams (11), Ryan Truex (20), Anthony Alfredo (5), Lawless Alan (15), Sammy Smith (8), Kyle Weatherman (91) at the front of the field. Austin Hill will start on the front row alongside leader Chandler Smith.

Austin Hill (21) gets the early lead.

I’m not expecting much from this finish since the better drivers and more aggressive drivers crashed out in the last incident.

They’re riding around single-file mostly.

Chandler Smith tries a bump and run on lap 161 of 163 and isn’t able to make it work.

Corey Heim (26) tries to go around the outside and loses the backend.

As expected Austin Hill (21) wins.

There are tickets available for tomorrow’s race. PRN is hyping the event while saying “No hype folks”.

Chandler Smith (81) says he was trying to be a better teammate and every time he does it always comes back to bite him. He said somebody is always griping at him about being a better teammate but only one person wins in the organization.

Chandler Smith apparently expected Corey Heim to push him because Corey is a Toyota driver. It’s amazing how they race like wild animals generally.

Corey Heim (26) is also unhappy saying he would’ve done the same thing [as Hill] heading toward the checkers, but obviously he’s unhappy about, frustrated.

Corey Heim said, “If he would’ve dropped back onto his bumper in the straightaway I would’ve gladly pushed him. My best chance to win the race was to go up to the top. It wasn’t in my best interest. it wasn’t in his best interest either. I don’t know why he would’ve gone down there”.

Jesse Love (2) is complaining about getting caught up in the last crash.

What a bunch of whiners. If you’re not good enough to out-strategize Austin Hill you need to stop whining and learn to drive.

We’re stuck watching the in-car camera of Austin Hill with his toddler son Barrett driving to victory lane. How dull.

That was more disappointing than I expected. It was another boring Atlanta event. I expected that. I didn’t expect the real racers to all get taken out prior to the end of the event. That really made the finish predictable and boring.
