Cars in field: 38
Pole: Cole Custer (00)
Outside Pole: Riley Herbst (98)
Stages: 30-30-40
Weather: Partly sunny, 80°F, Feels like 89°, Wind N 3 mph, Wind Gusts 5 mph
Multiple vehicle crash on lap 1 of 100 bringing out the caution.
Jeff Hammond is on the PRN broadcast. The PRN crew seems very bored on lap 25 of 100. They’re discussing fuel numbers to two decimal points.
Riley Herbst (98) wins stage one by 2.04 seconds.
Ryan Sieg (39) wins stage two.
Restarting on lap 65 of 100 with Riley Herbst (98) and Aric Almirola (20) on the front row.
Caution on lap 66 of 100 for a spin by Aric ‘Afterburner’ Almirola (20) from seventh position.
Restarting on lap 71 of 100 with Riley Herbst (98) and AJ Allmendinger (16) on the front row followed by Cole Custer (00), Justin Allgaier (7), and Shane ‘SVG’ Van Gisbergen (97).
Caution on lap 83 of 100 for a multi-car crashing involving Josh Williams (11), Anthony Alfredo, and Parker Retzlaff(). Looks like Daniel Dye (10) got into Anthony Alfredo (5) cuttiing down the tire of Anthony ‘FastPasta’ Alfredo (5) who hit the outside wall, then drifted down in front of Parker Retzlaff (31) and Josh Williams (11) who had nowhere to go.
PRN’s Doug Rice says drivers are tired of hearing about SVG, “what can you say, he’s winning!”.
Restarting on lap 88 of 100 with Riley Herbst (98) and Cole ‘Cussed’ Custer (00) up front followed by AJ ‘DingDong’ Allmendinger (16), Jesse Love (2), Aric ‘Afterburner’ Almirola (20), Matt ‘MattiD’ DiBenedetto (38), Leland Honeyman Jr (42), BJ McLeod (13), Conor Daly (26), Kyle Weatherman (91), Austin Hill (21), Shane ‘SVG’ Van Gisbergen (97), and Justin ‘Dewy Alligator/Lil Gator’ Allgaier (7) and Sheldon Creed (18).
Wow. I’m watching Riley Herbst catch up to Cole Custer (00) and its ok – not unexpected, so not very exciting, but the PRN guys are losing their minds. As teammates Custer and Herbst race side-by-side at the white flag, Afterburner passes both of them. While the racing is, at least, some action from a very boring event, it’s really not that exciting.
Herbst (98) passes Afterburner (20) in turn four on the final laps.
Riley Herbst (98) wins and his mommy and daddy are repeatedly shown cheering on the pitbox.
PRN mentioned they were showing Riley Herbst’s parents on the pitbox.
It is wonderful hearing Hammond on the PRN broadcast, but he sounds ill which is not wonderful.
Aric ‘Afterburner’ Almirola (20) admitted he was trying to steal one, but Herbst got to his left rear and got him tight – which he said he’d done earlier in the day.
Congrats to Shane ‘SVG’ Van Gisbergen (97) on a fourth place finish on an oval.
Very boring. Racing at the white flag and on the final lap does not a race make.
