2017 ARCA Series Race Four Talladega

Qualifying was rained out yesterday so the field is set by 2016 owner’s points putting Dalton Sargent on the pole for the race. Chris Buescher is in the booth with Kevin Lee and Philly Parsons. The race will be 78 laps.

Sargent took the inside lane, though he preferred the outside, to break up two Venturini Mototsports cars being lined up together.

Noah Gragson has outside pole. It appears Noah beat Dalton Sargent to the start-finish line.

Noah Gragson is hoping this will gain him permission to run the truck race here.

Apparently Justin Fontaine is out of the car for the race – with Terry Jones subbing – still recovering from the crash in Daytona.

The field has strung out to single file mostly.

Caution for debris with 52 to go as Will Kimmel loses the right front shock. It came through the hood which is buckled. This is the last season with steel bodied cars in the series. Next year will be composite body cars. Lelani Munter is in the pits. She has a wheel mark on the side of her car. Not sure of her issue, but the team are gathered around the front right side of the car instead of just changing tires.

Get better Andy Hillenburg who was in an accident and is recovering from severe back injuries according to Kevin Lee.

Restarting with 46 laps to go. Justin Haley is in the race trying to get approved and licensed for this track.

During the commercial break an accident broke out. Will Kimmel was involved along with Kyle Weatherman, Noah Gragson, Dalton Sargent, 78, Ricky Sanders, Mark Thompson. Red flag is out. Noah is limpiing a little bit.

Yellow flag is out.

Lights are out on the page car. They’ll restart with 35 laps to go.

Caution with 29 to go for debris.

Restarting with 24 to go.

Justin Haley turned 18 last week.

Orderly race overall, kinda boring. It feels like there are too many drivers out there trying to get approved for other series and not really going for the win. I’m used to more action and excitement from the ARCA Talladega race.

A tire carcass rolled across the track as the field approached with five laps to go and the caution never came out.

Andy Seuss is in the race also.

Brett Holmes into the wall on the final lap. The caution comes out and Brnadon Lynn is leading as the yellow comes out.

The ARCA series has infinite one lap runs to the checkered in order to finish under the checkered flag.

The leader appears to be out of gas. Brandon Lynn is trying to coast down to pit lane to get gas.

Brandon Lynn is barely creeping toward the pits.

Six of the top 8 pitted on the same lane as Brandon Lynn. Justin Haley is now the leader and pitted later than the rest. Andy Seuss also pitted later and should be good on fuel.

One 2.66 mile lap will determine the winner – though the question of how many times that will happen comes to mind with so many cars having fuel issues.

The pace car lights are out. When they go green its green and white together and the race must end under green.

Justin Haley wins.

Congrats to Andy Seuss on his second place finish. Spencer Davis finished third in his ARCA debut.
