2016 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race Sixteen Chicago

It’s the first year of the Truck Series chase and Chicagoland will set the field. Kyle Busch is running tonight so, unless his truck blows up, or he gets rookied, I think we know who’ll win the race. I’m pulling for ‘TP’ Timothy Peters to get in. He’s currently eighth – in the final position to get in. I just hope he doesn’t have some Martin Truex Jr type luck and miss out.

Welcome back to Matt Tifft who is returning after brain surgery earlier this season.

Spencer Gallagher will lead the field to the green flag for the first time in his career capturing his first pole.

My sympathies to Robby Gordon and family. Peace be with you.

Caution on lap 3 of 150 as William Byron hits the wall.

Matt Tifft made an unscheduled pit stop on lap 20 due to a vibration.

Caution on lap 46 of 150 for caution clock expiration.

Unscheduled pit stop for Timothy Peters who got into the wall on lap 64 of 150 killing the right front tire.

William Byron brings out the caution on lap 83 of 150 as he cuts down a tire and slams into the outside wall.

Could someone explain to Kim Coon that she has a microphone, therefore screeching, shouting, yelling, and screaming are not required during her on-air bits. She needs to lose the hysteria and professionally tell us what’s going on. She begins at a normal level, then almost immediately raises the volume for no apparent reason and if the field passes the decibels bound into the red. It’s as though she is one of those mad people who is under the impression that she needs to speak louder because she can’t hear. Painful. The cars have a rev limiter. The microphones need a screech limiter. Of course that would result in Michael Waltrip appearing to mime just about everything and lots of breaks in Phil Parson’s commentary. Than again, that doesn’t sound too bad.

Caution on lap 104 of 150 for a spin by Josh Berry. He managed to not hit anything in his debut in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race.

Caution on lap 111 of 150 for a wreck between Ben Kennedy (33), the 21 of Johnny Sauter, the Ben Rhodes (41), and Matt Crafton in the 88. The 21 got into the back of the 33 who tried to gether it back up when the 41 clipped his front end sending him spinning in front of the 88. The race is red flagged on lap 112.

The television broadcast showed the radar with rain seemingly approaching the track.

They’re welding on the outside wall. The SAFER barrier off turn two seems to have incurred damage in the incident. Moody says the aluminum outer skin of the SAFER barrier has a tear that’s getting a plate welded onto it.

Moody says the weather that’s moving toward them is heavy weather and is a mile or two out.

The red flag has been lifted after about 14 minutes.

Restarting with 33 laps to go.

Caution on lap 118 with a big spin by Grant Enfinger. Cole Custer seems to have a tire rub from the contact into Grant Enfinger. Grant spun through the infield grass. Spencer Gallagher got some of that also.

Caution on lap 124 of 150 for Ben Rhodes hitting the wall.

Restarting with 21 laps to go.

Caution with 14 laps to go for Tommy Joe Martins getting into the wall.

Restarting with 8 to go.

Caution is out for John Wes Townley in the wall with five to go. He tried to block Tyler Reddick a bit late and turned into the outside wall.

Green, white, checkered attempt coming up.

Kyle Busch wins under caution.

Congrats to Timothy Peters and Daniel Hemric on getting in the Chase.

Rico Abreu in the 98 spun bringing out the caution that ended the race.

KyBu mentioned in the radio interview that he definitely didn’t want the 13 to win the race and get into the Chase, then he said since that’s a KBM truck he doesn’t know what he’s doing. He said Daniel Hemric was the person he trusted behind him on the restarts to give him a push and realize that would be his best chase to win. Cameron Hayley drives the 13.

Ben Kennedy injured his hand in his incident – his middle and ring fingers on his right hand are wrapped and splinted coming out of the infield care center. He slurred that his hand is just bumped, bruised and banged up. He’s taken some really hard hits over the past year and it sounds like they’re taking a toll.
