Blue sky day over rattlesnake hill as Kyle Busch leads the field to the green flag. 39 cars in the field again this week. Hmmmm. That really seems to be the continuation of a less-than-positive trend.
Jimmie Johnson had a frightening crash on Friday during qualifying.
Jimmie went to a backup car and later explained that his steering wheel came off in his hand resulting in the wreck. What a strange thing to happen.
Newman brings the caution out on lap 52 of 313 after losing a right front tire.
Caution is out on lap 106 of 313 for Paul Menard in the 27 hitting the wall.
Caution is out on lap of 313 for Ricky Stinkhouse in the 17 hitting the wall. Love Stenhouse’s new haircut. That works almost as well as the long hair – which I kinda miss.
Caution is out with 87 laps to go as ‘It’ lost a right rear and debris scattered across the track behind him.
Hmmm, I keep wondering who is actually in charge of Penske Racing for NASCAR. It seems every decision that’s made, every statement that’s made comes from Brad ‘It’ Keselowski. Is he the defacto boss of Penske now? Is Roger so busy with the Indy Car series teams he has turned over everything to Brad Keselowski? Or maybe the class of the organization is simply becoming clear to me. I thought Penske was a quality organization like Hendrick, Ganassi and Roush, even Nemco Motorsports, but its starting to seem as though they’re more like Michael Waltrip Racing, classless. Everything I read or hear about Penske these days seems underhanded and desperate. I really thought Penske was a quality organization operating with integrity. Maybe I’m just naive.
Caution with 6 to go as Kasey Kahne hits the wall. Looks like a right front problem.
Looks like we’re restarting in overtime. Kevin Happy Harvick leads them to the green flag.
Harvick wins at the line beating Carl Edwards by inches – one hundreth of a second!
Good finish, boring race.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished fifth. Chase Elliott finished eighth. Jimmie Johnson came from 38th to finish eleventh.
