Jeff Gordon WINS!!! Fantastic!!! That was beautiful to see. He will be in the final four of the Chase. The drive for five is alive. I hope the retiring Jeff Gordon can leave the sport on the ultimate high. I am so happy to see a deserving driver win for a change. It’s been a while. The final restart resembled the NASCAR racing I used to enjoy several years ago. It would be nice to see more of that and fewer gimmicks.
AMEN Matt Kenseth! I’m bummed for you that you had so much right front damage that you couldn’t turn when you went into that turn and ruined your day. Maybe if you wouldn’t have been damaged by the Penske 2 of Keselowski earlier you might have had a better day. Poor Matt Kenseth.
The incident didn’t affect take Joey out of the championship, so I can’t imagine why there would be major repercussions from NASCAR. Especially since Joey was given a win last week by NASCAR. I hope they won’t attempt to give him another one next week, or enhance his championship chances in some other manner, using this racing incident as an excuse. I wish I felt confident they wouldn’t, but they seem pretty intent on letting Penske do whatever they choose to get to the championship.
Looked like the crowd really enjoyed the incident and NASCAR should listen to the fans. They claim they listen to the fans, that should send NASCAR a message loudly and clearly. The fans reacted very positively to the incident between Kenseth and Logano. They are frustrated and disgusted with what Penske has been doing and felt that justice was served. The fans have spoken and I agree wholeheartedly.
Penske has gotten away with so much over the past few years – rarely held to the same standards of behavior as the rest of the field. They reaped what they sowed today, but they are deserving of a lot more.
That last restart was fantastic! What lovely racing between the 24 and the 1 to the finish. CONGRATS to Jeff Gordon! It is a pleasure to watch clean racing for a change, after an afternoon of Penske antics. The constant dirty tactics by Penske with NASCAR constantly overlooking it and seemingly being unable to rectify the situation has thoroughly degraded the Chase for me at this point. The format change and qualifying format change has already damaged my enthusiasm for my favorite sport, but this season has provided additional damage with NASCAR’s complicit participation in Penske’s unsportsmanlike racing behavior.
I believe the entire garage is tired of what Penske is doing and NASCAR’s refusal to govern and have decided to self-police – as they should. NASCAR always says “don’t make us step in and make that call”. The drivers are in the position where they are forced to step in and make the call and the correction to take care of the Penske situation since NASCAR refuses to do so.
Congratulations also to Dale Earnhardt Jr on his fourth place finish as well as Martin Truex Jr who finished sixth. Kasey Kahne finished ninth, Jimmie Johnson finished twelfth, and Justin “Dewy Alligator” Allgaier brought her home thirteenth.
