2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Thirty Charlotte

Frankenstein takes the checkered flag in Charlotte in the Xfinity race. Man was that BORING!!!

Not sure what was up with that incident between KyBu and Kasey Kahne. Both ended up in the fence, and Kyle headed to the garage. Kasey stayed out, but drifted back through the field. He had a tire rub and wanted advice on pitting, but no one on his crew would give him any. They told him the decision was up to him. That’s not cool. He can’t see what they see.

Austin Dillon was praying when a firework hit his butt. He wondered if it was a sign from God. Seems like a comment to me.

I have to say I am appalled by Austin Dillon’s attempt to make a career/brand on the backs of dead men – from the Lane Frost wave, to driving Dale Earnhardt’s car. It is in incredibly bad taste. If you have a personality – other than that of a thief – show it and hope it works for the brand you want to make. If you don’t, be yourself, learn to be a great driver and let your skill overcome your lack of charisma and personality.

Race postponed until noon tomorrow due to rain.

So far the Chrarlotte race under the bright sunshine has not been a good race for members of Hendrick Motorsports. Kasey Kahne hit the wall twice with two right front tire issues, bringing out the caution on the last and sending the 5 car to the garage. Dale Jr brought out the next caution after hitting the wall twice, the second time with a tire issue.

The race began with a caution lap 1 brought out by Jeb Burton hitting the wall. A competition caution on lap 26 brought the field to pit road.

As usual during commercial something brings out the caution. Not sure what – as usual. Ah, thank you nascar.com lap-by-lap. Caution on lap 168 of 334 for debris.

Caution is out on lap 177 of 334 Kenseth in the 20 is smoking like crazy due to some right side damage courtesy of getting clipped in the back by Ryan Newman in the 31.

Caution is out on the restart on lap 182 of 334 for lots of smoke coming from Justin Allgaier’s 51 car. Dewey Alligator ran into the back of David Gilliland in front of him and damaged the radiator.

Burton says increasing the restart zone results in more wrecks on the restart. He says history shows this. Hmmm, what history I wonder. Interesting. He talked a lot, but left me with questions. He’s got to get better. At least he admitted that he’s in the booth because “they won’t let” (him) “drive a race car anymore”. If he accepts that, then he needs to learn how to do this job well.

On lap 191 of 334 Dale Jr says he got into the wall on the restart and he has to head to the pits for a flat right front tire. He’d just made up one of his laps down, and should go two laps down with this pit stop. He said he got into the speedy dry on the track and it sent him into the wall.

Now NASCAR has thrown the caution on lap 195 of 334 after Sam Hornish Jr gets into the wall in the spot also. Keselowski said he got into something there also, though he didn’t actually make contact with the wall. NASCAR is concerned its fluid.

The 18 of Kyle Busch hit the 42 of Kyle Larson at the entrance to pit road. It looked like KyBu faked down to pit road, as he started to go back up onto the track, Kyle Larson turned right to go onto pit road and the two collided. Both came into the pits after the wreck. Both cars are charged with commitment line violations, and KyBu was also hit with a too fast entering into pit road.

Kenseth heads to the pits on lap 205 of 334 as he gets into the wall again, but doesn’t bring out the caution. Kenseth believes its something in the right front suspension that’s broken. He said that whatever he told Ratface (Jason Ratcliff) was bent, broke.

Caution is out on lap 240 of 334 for Kenseth’s 20 car hitting the wall hard. He’s headed straight for the garage now.

With 75 laps to go the 48 car is being pushed back to the garage. He came onto pit road from 3rd position. He said he had it wide open and the car just wasn’t going. The team is pushing it back to the garage.

The 51 was headed back onto the track as the 48 was coming in, though he was smoking as he was coming up to speed.

Jimmie said the engine went into protection mode. He said they lost oil pressure and the oil pump seized up. They’re done for the day.

Harvick (4) is questioning how the 22 of Logano did the restart saying he took off before the restart zone. Charlotte Motor Speedway painted the restart zone lines on the track. A replay shows that Joey indeed started before the restart zone. The folks in the booth are saying since it was only a few feet NASCAR can’t make a ruling. If not, who can, since it’s clear in a replay.

Congrats to Sideways Sam Hornish on leading a number of laps. Yes it was due to pit strategy, but the fact he held it out there to continue to lead after getting the lead was nice to see – and hopefully a confidence builder for the 9 team. The tv talking heads mentioned it occasionally, but didn’t really have much to say about it and seemed to not really recognise/acknowledge the significance of it.

Joey Logano takes the checkered flag.

Martin Truex Jr finished 3rd and Jeff Gordon finishes 9th. Ryan Blaney finishes 14th.

KHarv said it was just extremely hard to pass – and that’s how the race looked – mostly follow the leader. He finished 2nd. Boring race.

You know I’ve pulled for Joey Logano to do well for a few years, but I find myself cheering against him these days as he begins to emulate Brad Keselowski. Both seemed to start off as nice guys who questioned their talent and chose to cheat instead of prove their worth instead of proving themselves worthy of a championship by winning fairly.

KyBu is pissed. He mentioned “can’t pass”, “single lane racetrack”, and “oil on the top of the racetrack”. Thanks NASCAR for cleaning that up.”

Dale Jr also mentioned the oil on the top of the track also which sent him into the wall. He said he couldn’t see it before he hit it – and that it was after the speedy-dry. He wondered if maybe the shadows made it so that the crew couldn’t see it to put speedy-dry on it to clean it up.

Carl Edwards (19) also mentioned “hard time passing”.

Hmmm, the Victory Lap show bumped having comments from NASCAR on the oil spilled on the track. By the way, where’s the chick who’s usually on here. There’s a Ken doll taking her place that doesn’t seem to have ever heard of NASCAR. And can we get rid of Frank Stoddard on the desk PLEASE!!! He’s aggravating and unenlightened (and unenlightening). Parker does a lovely job, as does that woman who usually hosts the show. Frank is just another bitter yeller. There are too many of those on the broadcasts. Petty Kyle was bad enough with that, but now we’ve added Burton to the mix, who hasn’t quite had time to settle into life, mentally, as a former driver.

Richard Buck, Sprint Cup Series Director, says they “…make the rounds on the radio…” and they “actually had men on the ground and they couldn’t see anything”.
