2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Ten Talladega

NASCAR has a new qualifying format for Talladega – SINGLE CAR RUNS!!! Dude!!! Finally!!! I so miss the single car qualifying. It’s single car, single lap, which is different, but at least we can see everybody qualify and not a whole lot of sitting around on pit road playing strategy. Jeff Gordon won his 80th career pole. Congrats Big Daddy!

Well we just went to commercial during Landon Cassill’s lap, so we don’t get to see everybody qualify, but its still better than the usual chaos. I think I would get to the track early to see this sort of qualifying. Of course, I think it’s only for Daytona and Talladega – the plate tracks – but it has possibilities of getting me back to the track before a race to watch qualifying.

Can we please get someone who sounds like a professional broadcaster on the desk for Race Day! I enjoy Kenny Wallace’s antics, but one non-professional/trained broadcaster is enough. Larry McReynolds seems to be there for color also, but Danielle Trotta’s voice is extraordinarily abrasive and her professionalism is sadly lacking and I’ve not seen any improvement in her time there. After years of Steve Byrnes, she’s a drastic step down in quality and professionalism and class. Adam Alexander is no better. His verbal missteps are frightening. Driver Wally Dallenbach is a much better on-air talent. While every on-air candidate can’t be Mike Joy or Bob Varsha or Steve Byrnes – they should aspire to do so. FOX should strive to hire the best of the est instead of the cheapest, since often, you get what you pay for.

Jimmie looks pale this week to me. I wonder why. That’s not something I say about him often.

The race has looked a lot like the Talladega race I love. I’d started dreading ‘Dega because they’d become consistently disappointing. This race, with 27 laps to go, has been enjoyable. The only odd thing is that I’ve not seen my favorite shot so far this race. There’s a shot of the cars riding into a turn where they almost look like they’re vertical because of the banking and the angle of the camera, but I’ve not seen it today. Typically when I see it they’re three wide. It’s a beautiful thing!

Ryan Blaney has run a wonderful race currently in third as they come to five to go. Dale Jr is leading and has debris on the grill. He says the water temp is pegged. Blaney got hung out when Denny went down and the first two

Junior won!!! Jimmie finished second. Ryan Blaney finished fourth. They were wrecking behind them in turn two as they came to the finish.

Jeff Gordon led a lot of the race, but got a late speeding penalty that put him in the pack and he just couldn’t work his way back to the front.

Junior is in tears in victory lane. It’s wonderful to see. I love Amy that she’s helped him become the “blessed” man he is.

Jamie Little said Greg Ives was on the pit box in tears and didn’t want to come down and show his tears. Carl Edwards, whom Jamie was actually doing an interview with when she said that, said he had to apologize for his language on the radio. He said he was really really upset. He also mentioned that cars going by at speed while he’s spinning is one of the most dangerous things in the sport these days.
