Breaking News before the Truck Series got underway – NASCAR has suspended Kurt Busch indefinitely after a Delaware Family Court issued an order of protection for Patricia Driscoll following an incident after the Fall 2014 Dover race. I said when she showed up in Kurt’s life, don’t sleep with crazy. All of this madness is just one example of why I consider that a rule to live by.
Chevrolet also released a statement that it is severing ties with Kurt Busch.
Congratulations to Dale Earnhardt Jr on winning the first race of the Duel at Daytona and congratulations to Jimmie Johnson on winning the second race of the Duel at Daytona. I fell asleep during the first race – concussion + pain medication = snoozing.
I’m curious to see how Todd Bodine will grow on the desk for the trucks. Unfortunately he’s paired with Danielle Hot-To-Trotta who doesn’t improve and doesn’t seem to have what it take to do the job. That may limit his growth. I hope he outgrows her, though without the blonde hair and short skirts he may be fighting an uphill battle at FOX Sports.
So far the ARCA drivers are making the Truck race look like an ARCA race. The youth movement is a bit overrated in my opinion, but okay. Kids driving fast aren’t any more exciting than adults driving fast – the difference is often in the skill and reasoning ability. Whatever.
Big wreck takes out a lot of trucks. Before pit road is officially open, Ty Dillon comes in to pit road from the lead. His crew chief told him they had to come in on this lap no matter what. Johnny Sauter came in with his tood up blocking his view.
Restarting with 42 laps to go. The wreck took out a big chunk of the field. There are 15 trucks on the lead lap after starting the race with 32. There are five truck multiple laps down.
Caution is out for a spin in turn two by Matt Tifft. We were watching Johnny Sauter’s truck because his hood was vibrating as the bondo was flying off from a pit road repair attempt.
I think they restarted with 32 or 31 laps to go. I can’t read the tops of the screen very well. The assumption that everyone has a gignormous wide screen television has resulted in unreadable fonts typically.
Ryan Silas is coming in for a popped up hood with 21 to go. He left pit road without a hood and the airbox flew off the truck bringing out the caution.
Restarting with 12 laps to go.
Someone should explain to Michael Waltrip that Mike Joy’s job is to call the race and Phil Parson’s job is to provide color and his best bet would be to answer questions when asked. He babbles entirely too much.
Caution is out with 10 to go for Ryan Ellis going very slowly on the inside of the track.
Restarting with 6 laps to go.
Tyler Reddick wins.
It was rather a mess. None of the lead ‘pack’ was willing to create a new line and try to run down the inside line. When someone would pop out, no one would go with that truck and they would fade to the back. It looked like what it was, a bunch of kids out there.
Scott Lagasse said “the 29 took care of his teammate and that’s what you have to do in this thing, wish I’d had some teammates with me.” I didn’t realise this was team racing. Leave it to Brad Keselowski Racing (BKR) to gimmick the race. It would really be nice if he could race straight up as an owner and as a driver.
Tyler Reddick mentioned that you could see that his teammate would do anything he could to keep anyone from getting to him. Wow, apparently they’re under the impression that this race is really a team sport. Seems like, then, that Clint Bowyer finish in Richmond shouldn’t have been a big deal. I mean he was simply trying to help out his teammate. Seems as though everyone is in agreement that Austin Theriault did the same for Tyler Reddick.
