2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Thirty-Two Talladega

Beautiful day at Talladega Motor Speedway. I’m sure its around the same temp as here, so that precludes me from sitting in the grandstands. I get cold far too easily these days to be in the grandstands with the temperatures in the mid 60s. The first race I saw was about that and it was too chilly to not wear a jacket and baking in a jacket when the sun was out. Quite uncomfortable. Of course everyone I’ve met at the track says the Talladega race is best watched on television due to the size of the track.

Jimmie started on the front row. Brian Vickers in the 55 led them to the green flag. Terry Labonte has said this will be his final Sprint Cup start.

Samantha Busch is pregnant. It’s funny we’d been talking about that last week. I said it was about time for her to be expecting and Bunny said she didn’t think Samantha would be able to convince KyBu yet. We both agreed though the time was drawing nigh and during the week it was announced that they’re expecting early next year.

SHUT UP DALE JARRETT!!!! Motor mouth!!!! Geez louise what’s with the babbling! He used to talk like a person with some common sense, now he babbles worst than Larry McReynolds. It’s madness!

First caution of the race on lap 60 of 188 leaves Joey Logano spinning through the infield an after Jamie McMurray starts wiggling tries to correct it and turns into Michael McDowell and Brad Keselowski they both drop down and continues, then Joey goes spinning through the infield plowing up a lot of turf. A huge chunk of the field head down pit road to avoid trouble. Jame Mc’s car seems to have the most damage. He’s been leaking oil the whole race. Throughout the first segment before the green flag pit stops various drivers were reporting the oil from his car and Kevin Harvick ended up dropping to the back of the field after being behind the 1 car for a while because he couldn’t see out of this windshield due to the fluid covering it.

Jamie Mc cut down a tire leading to the spin. “It” spent a lot of time on pit road repairing damage, but stayed on the lead lap.

Big wreck on lap 103 toward the back of the field collects Kyle Busch, JJ Yeley, Alex Bowman, Tony Stewart, AJ Allmendinger and Aric Almirola. Afterburner pushes JJ Yeley into the wall and the field bunches and spins behind them. Kyle Busch had slowed and missed the wreck when Austin Dillon ran into him and sent him spinning resulting in big damage.

Caution on lap 132 for debris from Michael McDowell’s car which hit the wall.

Green flag pit stops with 14 to go as Danica Patrick leads the field into the pits. Kevin Harvick pun around on pit lane coming in. Michael Annett got into his back end.

Caution is out in the midst of green flag stops with 13 laps to go for Kyle Larson spinning while coming off the pit lane trying to get up to speed. Some cars were on pit road when the caution cam out.

Caution is out with 3 to go for debris. It was getting completely crazy at the front of the field. Due to the timing of the caution Ryan Newman and David Gilliland led the field to the green flag with Danica leaving pit road first the front of the field included Landon Cassill, David Ragan and Trevor Bayne.

Caution is out before they get back to the white flag and collects Dale Earnhard Jr, Michael Annett, David Gilliland and Paul Menard. Greg Biffle clips Dale Jr’s left rear sending him spinning. The 38 got into the back of the 16 to cause him to clip Dale Jr.

Jimmie got shuffled back since Logano was trying to get to Keselowski to help him.

Chad seems to be saying the 48 won’t have enough fuel and is leaving it up to Jimmie to decide whether to come in or not.

Logano blocks Newman and Kenseth who were attempting to get to the lead. Keselowski wins. Lots of boos from the fans.

Most likely Jr and Jimmie are out. They’re looking at video to determine the final positions at the finish. Jimmie finished somewhere in the 20s as lots of people were saying they would not help the 48. Jr finishes 31st. Jimmie led the most laps.
