Kyle Busch won the truck race. Congrats KyBu. Kyle Busch won the Nationwide race. Congrats KyBu. Jimmie Johnson gained the record for the most laps led at Dover and the most wins at Dover in the Sprint Cup Race. Congrats Jimmie Johnson and the 48 crew.
I’m especially pleased because Keselowski was trying to sneak another win, as opposed to putting it out there and winning the race.
Luke Bryan did the command with a fan and/or maybe an autism kid. Nice.
Part of the track came up when Jamie McMurray in the Cessna 1 ran over it. He ended up finished 13th in the end. They were stuck waiting for the red flag period to end so they could work on their car. Larry Mc was calling for NASCAR to allow them to work on their car during the red flag period since the damage was through no fault of theirs, but NASCAR apparently used a similar situation with Jeff Gordon as the precedent for not allowing them to work on it.
Overall a typically boring Dover race. It was, at least, the least boring Dover race of the weekend. The stands looked light in spite of beautiful weather – sunny and 73 degrees.
Clint ended up putting Kyle out of the race rather early by going up on KyBu running him into the wall. He rammed into Kenseth on the last restart ‘trying to help’ and, according to Kenseth destroyed the car. Clint said he thought to himself, “Not another Gibbs car.”
This is the final race for NASCAR on FOX for 2014. I’ll miss Mike Joy, Darrell Waltrip, Steve Byrnes, Matt Yocum and Jeff Hammond. I didn’t like the gimmick with Hammond in the loudest places in the world shouting above the noise, but I enjoy Hammond in general.
As for the rest of the people on-air, good riddance! Sadly we’re headed for NASCAR on TNT, typically the worst coverage of the year. It’s a relief to get away from Michael Waltrip for a bit, but I’ve not done anything to deserve having to deal with Petty Kyle on a weekly basis when I just want to watch a race. It’s not fair. Then again its also, I believe, the final season of that particular torture. I don’t know if NASCAR on NBC will be any better. I’ve only watched part of an episode or two of NASCAR America (didn’t want to see much more), but I truly hope it won’t be as bad as the TNT coverage.
Jimmie was the all-time wins leader at Dover with 8, and adds another win to his total. Jimmie led 272 of 400 laps to bring his total to 2,976 giving him the record for the most laps led at Dover, breaking Bobby Allison’s record of 2802.
