2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Nineteen Loudon

Brian Vickers, Jimmie JohnsonLoudon Nationwide race. Okay. KyBu starts the race running away with it and stinking up the show. First pit stop he has a little issue and doesn’t win the race off pit road. Matt Kenseth’s car is crazy sideways. He’s working hard to get his chance to stink up the show. For some reason I have a major issue with him running this series. Maybe it has to do with the fact that Cup drivers in the Nationwide races don’t seem to improve Elliott Sadler’s lot. Matter of fact it seems to have a negative influence on Elliot’s race. Unfortunately Marty Reid is back on the desk. We miss Bestie! Good news – Martin Truex joins them on the desk – wearing jeans. He’s so totally lucious in jeans. But that’s beside the point. I enjoy his commentary because he only speaks when he has something to say. With Marty Reid calling the race like he’s commentating for the blind its a good thing. I would imagine if Carl Edwards was on it would be non-stop blase chatter. I’d just like a few more wide shots that show Martin’s jeans. But that’s just me. So far its been a predictably boring race. Stanton Barrett made the field I’m happy to see, along with Chad Hackenbracht and Ryan Preece. One good thing about the current situation in the Nationwide Series is that the fields are a bit light giving guys the chance to get in the field if they can put together the money.

I find it totally tacky the emphasis on the rich chasing $100,000. I bet any one of the fans in the stands – the ordinary folks who spend hard-earned money to see the race – would love to have that money. Instead it goes to drivers making much more than that per year. And Marty Reid feels the need to obsessively chatter about it. Tacky. Very tacky. Rich people getting richer isn’t nearly as interesting as….just about anything else!

This has been the longest, most boring race. KyBu has led over 100 laps of 200 laps. Chad Hackenbracht spins with two laps to go. Now we are going to have a G-W-C finish with the cars running low on fuel.

Caution is out just after the restart. Landon Cassill ran out of fuel as the cars headed to the green flag and couldn’t get near pit road. Mike Wallace pushed him into the pits.

Sam Hornish has come into pit road. Irwin said they were going to run out of fuel and he apologized to Sam. 20 cars on the lead lap.

Second attempt at a G-W-C. Caution is out as they were headed toward the white flag as Paul Menard and Parker Kilgerman spin out. Joey Logano and a couple other people were four wide going into the turn. There will be a third attempt at a G-W-C. Adam Stevens said there had enough fuel for two G-W-C but he was doubtful about a third one. They are red flagging the race – much to KyBu’s relief. Parker was stuck in the mud in the infield. His car has been pulled out and is back underway. They’re hooking up Menard’s car which slammed the wall pretty hard. Cars are restarted and heading around again. One car has come into the pits.

Final attempt at the G-W-C. Brian Vickers’ crew chief says they should be out of fuel already. Two laps of caution laps. KyBu gets a good restart. Elliott spins on the second turn. Kasey Kahne comes in with one lap to go. KyBu wins!!! Mike Bliss spins. Elliott Sadler ran out of fuel before the end. Marty Reid actually said out loud, “That’s the most excited I’ve been about a race in a long time.” Seriously???? Dude PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get another job!!! KyBu burned them down with a major burnout.

KyBu tied the record of pole winners winning Nationwide races set by Sam Ard. Next week they’re at Chicagoland. Boring race, but I’m glad KyBu won. I’m tired of seeing the best car

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is in Iowa this evening. After a sucky Loudon Nationwide Series race the trucks take to the track. I’m pretty sure they will redeem the boring racing of the day with a hot truck race.. Todd Bodine is in the booth. No Michael Waltrip Thank God!!! Herman Quiroga gets his first Truck Series pole!

OMG, Danielle Trotta will make The Setup a worst show than when Krista is whining through it. Let’s see what MRN has to offer. A pre-race show, hooray! Tuning in now. I’ll go back to the television broadcast when she’s gone. I’m looking forward to the race call without Mikey Waltrip’s inane, non-stop chatter.

Timothy Peters wins a very enjoyable truck race! Ty Dillon hits the wall as he battles for second position heading to the white flag.

Race Day. The final – Thank Every Available Deity – TNT show. The only good thing about the TNT broadcast is that Adam Alexander, Larry Mc and Petty Kyle are elsewhere so some of Speed’s programming becomes watchable again. Bob Varsha does Speed Center – which is delightful. Race Day features Darrell Waltrip and Jeff Hammond – informative AND fun. Same goes for Victory Lane. When I started watching Speed & NASCAR I loved the NASCAR programming. There was variety and lots of interviews with the drivers. None of the Speed talking heads seemed everywhere and they all seemed to actually have legitimate knowledge. Then things began to change. Suddenly the shows were weighed down with people who seemed not to have a clue about NASCAR, and not to have been bothered with professional broadcasting training and definitely not burdened with an iota of talent in broadcasting. Suddenly SpeedTV’s NASCAR programming became unwatchable overall. Sadly it seemed that people were hired for their gimmicks – Rutledge dresses badly, Petty Kyle mouths off, Danielle Trotta dresses like a streetwalker, a variety of bimbos were added as set dressing, Clueless Clark apparently knows where the bodies are buried. Insanity! Now all focus is on FOX Sports 1. Another marketing gimmick. Great. While they continue to crow about the coming of FOX Sports 1 they are careful not to actually say what viewers will lose with this gimmick. Oh well, NASCAR is the reason, overall, that I still have cable. If they continue to reduce the amount of NASCAR programming that will go a long way to moving me away from cable. Eh, c’est la vie.

PRN has the race call this week. I prefer MRN’s call. I find it much more enjoyable and enlightening, but PRN is better than the TNT blather.

Joey Logano blows a tire early in the race (lap 4). That’s two weeks in a row. Sounds like a setup issue to me since no one else is blowing tires like that.

Marcos Ambrose and Casey Mears tangle up on lap 14 and end up in the garage for repairs.

Denny Hamln loses a tire and brushes the wall bringing out the caution on lap 123.

Brian Vickers wins.
