Sunny and bright in Chicago…Sunny and bright in Atlanta…
Congrats to Ryan Blaney on making history with his 1st NASCAR Truck Series Win last night in Iowa. 18 year old Blaney became the youngest winner in the series.
Wendy Venturini is actually wearing a top that’s her size today on Race Day. Her pregnancy tops eventually became her size and her post-pregnancy tops were usually her size. There were such a difference from the earlier days when her overly tight tops and overly large boobs that appeared to be a boob job were distracting. Her boobs don’t look overly big right now. I wonder what’s going on. I don’t believe she was pregnant during the entire time when her boobs were the focus of almost every interview. Maybe it is just wearing a shirt her size. It really, really looks nice. Good going Wendy V! You’re my favorite female NASCAR reporter! I love that you’re always improving!! Now if you would teach the rest of them how to do it, you might eventually have some competition. Maybe. Eventually. In the distant future. You’re just head and shoulders above the others. Especially those on your network!
Part of the fun, sometimes, of the start of The Chase is the introduction of the themed intros. This year Bob Richie, your friend and mine Kid Rock, is your intro’er. Good going Bob! He adds some fun and feistiness to the proceedings. And Thank God Luke Bryan, an actual singer, is going the anthem instead of the usual parade of American Idol wannabes.
The field is off. Aric Almirola leads the first lap. Jimmie takes over the lead around lap five. Kasey Kahne is battling Almirola wheel-to-wheel for position two in the early going.
Almirola has a new crew chief Todd Parrot as RPM swaps entire crews between cars.
Kasey has taken the second position as the race rolls on and the commercial break ends.
Thank heavens for Allen Bestwick promoting Race Buddy. The joy of the race, from the 48’s point of view without all of the inane chatter and with fewer commercials. Sweet!
Now I know why the drivers say, I hope the fans enjoyed that race, because it was a lot of fun. Watching the race in Jimmie’s in-car camera is fun. I’m also watching the television broadcast, it is boring.
In the end Bradley K did one of his little tricks, came onto the track early, and ran off with the lead and the race. I believe Brad is a great driver. I just wish he would rely on his driving more and the bag of tricks less. It makes me feel like he doesn’t or that Paul Wolf doesn’t believe he can cleanly win a race without doing something questionable. I think he can. Seems like we’ll never know. His wins tend to be either a case of him running away with the race and stinking up the show, or using some gray area to finagle a win. He’s better than that. I look forward to the day his self-confidence catches up to his skills and he proves it.
Kasey brings it home third. Smoke brings it home fourth. BooBoo finishes eighth. Denny runs out of gas on the last lap. Kenseth finishes eighteenth after one of his shocks fell out of the car.
So the top ten at Chicagoland looks like this:
1) Brad Keselowski

3) Kasey Kahne
4) Kyle Busch
5) Ryan Newman
6) Tony Stewart
7) Joey Logano
8) Dale Earnhardt Jr.
