Spring Fontana Sunday

We’re in California today. It’s been raining throughout the weekend, so weepers are a possibility, but NASCAR is on the case and has already treated the course for weepers.
Kasey spun relatively early and broke his splitter, so he’s not a viable option.
Jimmie has led the most laps and with his 35th place finish last week, that’s a good thing.
Woof hit the wall.  JPM has blown up.  Newman has blown up.  The race is so-so.  There’s something about this track that causes it to appear that they’re just riding around.  There are clouds looming around the track with 90 laps to go.  It seems like they’ll get it all in, or at least most of it.  After a very exciting Daytona, this race is anti-climactic.  It’s really looking kinda ominous.  Right now Jimmie is in third with Big Daddy behind him and Mart Martin behind him.  Kyle Busch is leading and Jeff Burton is behind him.  The weather seems to be moving a bit faster now.  Jimmie seems to be letting people pass him – possibly saving fuel.  Big Daddy was having a problem, but he says its running fine now, but he’s in the pits for a scheduled green flag stop.

Bunny is here!  She came into town Thursday for a quick visit.  We shopped a bit yesterday and have been watching the race today.  I cooked a little bit – some soup (the soup I’ve been contemplating for a week) and some macaroni at Pooh’s request.  Both are yummy.  Clint has led some laps through the cycle of pit stops.   Rain is in the area now.  So everybody is now playing beat the raindrops.  Mark Martin just led some laps and is now pitting.  There are 65 laps to go.

BooBoo has an axle problem.  It’s overcast, a few raindrops are falling, and the temperature has dropped.  So now we’re all looking at strategy – though Jimmie seems to be hanging further back than is reasonable to me.

Caution is out.  There’s a shower over the speedway now.  There’s a bigger bit of rain to the west which may be of more concern.  Denny Hamlin was leading and he’s had to come in for gas to avoid running out, so now Scott Speed  is leading, though he’ll need to come back in.   Green flag came back out and they’re running again.  Denny just spun out.  They’re not sure if the next rain will bypass them to the north, but its back on now.  Keselowski just went for a ride.  He an Reuti-Tooty have been having a bumping battle for a while.  It’s cloudy again.  Clint Bowyer got the free pass under the caution.  Everybody is coming in for a stop on this caution.  24 laps to go.

So, Jimmie Wins at Fontana!!  So he went from 35th place in the standings to 12th.  We needed that.  The race was kind of a mess – but the ending was good. Well, good for me; not so much for Happy Harvick:[quicktime]https://briari.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/harvick_post_fontana_press_conference_horseshoe-desktop.m4v[/quicktime]
