Richmond Saturday Night (Spring Race)

I’m sick. I went to the doctor on Thursday, just in case I had the flu I could head it off at the pass. The doctor I saw, Dr. Weeks, since, of course, Dr. Banks didn’t have anything available until Monday, said it may be something viral, but it was hard to tell at that point. He gave me a couple of prescriptions for cough stuff and one for antibiotics – just in case. So I felt awful Friday, slept most of the day and today I’ve been snoozing off and on. I felt better yesterday evening compared to the morning, but today I don’t seem to feel as well. So I think I’m going to turn my prescription over to Bunny to take to the drug store, because I don’t even feel like leaving the house, or even getting dressed. Maybe tomorrow I’ll feel better. I hope so. Gavin DeGraw’s concert is Tuesday night. This past Monday night I saw James Morrison again at The Loft. He was doing a mini meet-n-greet, signing CDs. We had a nice little chat – okay that’s an understatement – he told me he saw me out there and I told him I was glad he was finally back, that I’d been listening to him here and there around the U.K. since I listen to CapitalFM and wondered when the hell he was coming back to Atlanta. The show was SENSATIONAL!!! He worked Up Tight by Stevie Wonder into a song and he worked Use Me by Bill Withers into another song. Truly talented and I finally got a chance to hear what Pooh meant when she said he sounded like Stevie Wonder, because he did when he sang Up Tight. This woman named Diane Birch opened for him. She had a couple of good songs and did a slow version of Haddaway’s What Is Love. It was a great show and I had so much fun! You know how there’s frequently that, is he looking at me? thing at concerts – Well James certainly answered that question definitively with his, “I saw you out there. Did you have a good time?” Let’s hear it for me. I still have to get my pictures off my camera. I’ve not done that yet. The one that Kim took of me at the table on my phone made me shudder because I look three times his size. Going to the doctor a few days later and seeing 268 on the scale didn’t help. I believe I’ve reached the limit of what I can tolerate in that regard, though since I’ve been sick I haven’t really modified my behaviour, though being sick automatically modifies everything. Once I’m not sick, then it’s on, exercise, eating right, getting the body I want.
So last week’s Talladega race had a finish that everybody’s been talking about all week. Brad Keselowski pushed Carl to the front then faked up track, Carl went up to block, Brad went down, Carl came down on him, spun out and the car lifted, coming down on Newman’s hood, then flying up into the fence. Spectacular!
Mark Martin won Phoenix the week before, so all of the Hendricks Boys have won this year, except Jr.
The race is supposed to be on Fox, but baseball is on, so it’s on Speed. This seems like it’s going to be a continuous problem, but I’m wondering if Fox isn’t planning to drop NASCAR in the next couple years, so it doesn’t care. The parade laps have started, so I’m going to publish and if I feel like it later, then I’ll write more. Ciao
